only have to stay up another 30 minutes before it's your normal bedtime
I don't care

[goes horizontal]

Do you always bark when you are tired, or is that only when you go horizontal?

Good morning GOF's. A belated roll call for 'yall. Please report in that all appendages accounted for and feeling fairly normal (for whatever age you are LOL). Well, the fall rain is drizzling over our tiny town of 8,400. It is so relieving in many ways. The rain tamped down the dust and very dense pollen we had this year. Every day since spring Carey and I have been sneezing and sneezing. Last night it started to drizzle but we still had bouts of sneezing. So you can imagine how much we welcomed the rain!

The rain also flushes out the streams from rotten fish. The last big sockeye run was last week and everyone got a good share of it. We have a nice gentleman who's 80+ that smokes our salmon. If anyone has jarred salmon before let me know. We would like to jar some as the smoked salmon takes on the sweetest softest texture when it's jarred.

Carey's softly napping in her recliner and I'm sneaking in the movie 'Pet Sematery' (she doesn't like scary movies anymore). This is the new version with John Lithgow. He's a wonderful actor but when I read the book I could imagine Fred Gwynne being the neighor more than Lithgow. You can tell it's a newer movie as everyone looks grungier than the first one (LOL). I would say I prefer the original version.

Later we're going to one of the grocery stores for free hot dogs and cake. They're celebrating 70 years.

Will, if you caught my reference to your roll call on another thread, you will know what I mean when I say "Yes, I checked and am relieved to say everything is still there". ;).

Present, in the appointed position, in the required uniform, and on time. Forgot why.

Nailed down commitments on two adoptions yesterday, restrung two guitars...getting ready to return to a weekly Old Time jam that I havent been at in six years. Making sure I recall the changes on Whisky Before Breakfast and Soldiers Joy.

Present and accounted for. Everything is still working as far as I can tell.
Seahag rolled in about midnight and said she had the time of her life. Got me a really cool T shirt from Deadwood. It says "We don't call 911 in Deadwood" and has two crossed Colt 45's under the logo. She said Sturgis was a blast and that Gatorbait and his girlfriend are doing great out in Denver. The bike is going to require some cosmetic work from her contact with the ground in Wyoming and she is still limping a bit from her bump on the knee but they are both totally functional otherwise.
Pretty high end gig coming up on Tuesday for some college presidents picnic. Two hours and food and over by 7 PM. Heck , I won't even have to miss any regular work for this one. Rock on fellow geezers.

Despite a forecast for rain, it turned out to be a nice day. August pollen is abundant. Corn is at its peak. Very nice. The roads were not busy today, a lot of people must be on vacation.

I know that in some towns everyone pitches in to can the salmon, then they share in the bounty. The brown sugar adds some sweetness.

Present and accounted for. Some stuff creaking and popping in unpleasant ways, but nothing missing.

My wife has saved abandoned baby animals in the past, by carrying them around in her bra- a rabbit once scared the heck out of her dentist by popping up unexpectedly.

Times change. This week it’s a baby red squirrel, but there isn’t enough room in there any more. So he’s living in a woolen hat. His name is Monte, and he’s at work with her at the moment (she’s an interpreter at the local Pioneer Village).

Picked up my daughter at the airport this morning, back from visiting her beau in Kansas. They’re getting tired of the long distance thing- it looks like a wedding is going to happen sooner rather than later.

My mom’s dementia is increasing, but she’s still living independently with some extra help. We’re taking it day by day.

I strung up my #1 with black nylon tape wounds last night, and I’m digging it.

So, yeah. Business as usual!

Thanks @beans-on-toast !

Glad your mom is fighting for her independence. We take the highest potency of Omega 3 Krill oil for various organs of the body, and it's also supposed to be good for the brain.
