Gibson Apparently In Trouble.

...... since I stand as the accused...

Accused, nay; sentenced. Step up, please.

For the record I would imagine most CEOs are not narcissists. But these articles do give a compelling explanation of extremely erratic, volatile, abusive behavior in CEOs.

Hardly a stereotype or over-generalization of CEO. Rather it is a psychological explanation of certain ones.

I hope this clarifies my point of view on the topic.

PS- I have purposely neglected to mention until now that I was until recently the CEO of a pretty large company. So I guess that means I am lynching myself. Clearly I am the one with a personality disorder. :)

I nearly bought an EB-2D once (crazily cheap price but I'd only started playing so I didn't realise it even though having that Glenn Cornick look would have been nice). I came close to buying a Tobias fretless 5 a decade ago. Very close.

Having heard the sound clips in a recent shootout I'd be tempted by a Grabber or Ripper if it presented itself for a good price, but I don't think those are in the current range, although an Epiphone is more my budget. A friend had a Victory guitar which was very nice.

Those old LP recording basses look nice.

I have played two gibson bass products I could see owning - and I have played a pile I would never own. The two I liked were an older T-bird and a Gibson era Tobias Growler. That particular bass is a wildly underrated piece, if you ask me. Ironic, of course, because we would all have to agree that Gibson rode that Tobias horse right into the dirt. Jerks.

I believe Humbled was chafing at a generalization about business owners and corporate managers that is tantamount to slur, i.e., that they are all sociopaths, soulless raiders and malignant opportunists.

If we are going to be protecting everyone's feelings in the current social climate, I see no reason to omit business owners and leaders from protection from derision for their values.

Only the marketplace will decide. Gibson has nearly gone under before, in the 80s, mostly because of lousy QC.

The article has some interesting things in it, but it's too cutesy to have much weight with such serious charges.

You can't please everybody. All you have to do is remove the circuit board, buy new pots and capacitors and then wire the pickups and capacitors directly to the pots. I did this when I removed the pickups from my Jazz Deluxe and installed them on my other Jazz.

The Gibson Nikki Sixx Blackbird was pretty cool....I have noticed over the last decade Gibson basses being sold brand new at almost cost, after sitting around the store for some time..there was a beautiful black Tbird with white pickgaurd, priced at 1500, went on sale for $600!!!!! And I missed it :(

uhm, I just got a new Gibby less than 48 hrs ago and I will be the first to say I am amazed that this bass rose to the #2 spot so quickly of favorite basses that I have owned.
My #1? Not a Fender, but made by a past Fender luthier
who made one of the most famous guitar in the world.
QC issue with the Gibby? Sure, they didn't put felt between the strap button and the body! No big deal, switched the buttons for Dunlops and left the felt out myself!
