Global Warming - It's Our Fault

You said those who point out that burning coal, oil, and natural gas, and the extraction of those resources, have definite negative environmental impacts, all have an agenda. When SloBake asked you to explain what agenda they might have, in terms monetary gain or other motivations, you dismissed his question.
The way I see it, linking fracking to drinking water contamination or increased seismic activity would create a lot more political pressure against fracking, and financial demands for bonds, etc., on companies doing the fracking. They may find themselves being sued for large damages. That in turn could reduce the total number of wells being sunk. That might start to shrink the US natural gas extraction industry as a whole, which might in turn jeopardize your current employment. Ergo, you have an easily understandable motivation to have an agenda, whether or not you own the company.
Hmm. So on the one hand you are purporting that human activity can induce major seismic activity, but on the other you are saying that seismic activity is not specific to a single particular event? So humans can cause a single catastrophic event, but the earth is not capable of it?
Also, 3 scientists with grants reporting a story to NBC isn't proof of anything. I want to see the study.

Not really though dude. You are in a mental institution if you think natural gas is going anywhere. Even if some of the companies doing the fracking were sued, the impact on what I do and who I do it for would be extremely limited. The company I work for is the ONLY natural gas company in this state and one of the largest in the country. They have been in business for over 150 years and have never laid off employees. Ever. There are currently a whole lot of CNG fueling stations popping up in this state and several very large fleets have signed contracts to power their vehicles with CNG. It IS the original Green Energy and I personally guarantee you it will be here long after everyone currently in membership here is dead and forgotten.
Besides, I am a heavy equipment operator, a commercial truck driver and I have been a journeyman carpenter for over 20 years. I will make good money as long as I am able to work.
And again, I want to see one piece of evidence that shows "Definite negative impact" of natural gas. And I ain't talking about the ridiculously miniscule number of incidents involving companies that negligently spilled fracking by products into lakes or whatever. That happened once.
I tend to think scientifically about science, so I don't have to "believe" or "buy" any facts about global warming. I just read them, and do my little part in my little way.
Assuming correlation implies causality is one of the classic mistakes of humans.

Imagine if you had a large collection of spheres - and one of them had crap growing all over it and in it.
We'll wait for the geologist to answer if they caused the ice age. One thing is for sure, it's been getting warmer and warmer ever since the last ice age. So are we causing the northern ice cap to melt far more rapidly than expected or have the climatologists left out exponential effect: the tipping point? I mean that the ice cap gas been melting for millennia, with some waxing and waning, and at this point has it passed it's critical mass and the melt is increasing exponentially? The scientists seem to have calculated a straight line on all of this and are continually surprised when it doesn't go as modeled.
Nothing is a straight line, everything goes exponential at some point. Do climatologists never speak to this when modeling?
I wonder especially since the cap has really been melting quicker than predicted ten years ago: during this 15 year pause in warming trend.

The earth (and universe) killed the dinosaurs and created the ice age over millennia and made it go away over millennia and no scientist can predict any future event. Especially basing it on past events and trends: it ends up with them saying "it can't happen because it never has" or "this will happen" and it doesn't. Nearly infinite possibilities and variables in the universe. It's weather forecasting and it seldom works out as expected.

Anyone who tries to deny the fact that there is a possibility for contamination simply lacks a thorough thought process..
The process of fracturing is started by injecting huge amounts of pressure in the ground, in turn, "fracturing" the bed rock breaking the natural gas free. The fluid that is injected (hence: "hydraulic") is a mixture of water and petro based solvents.
Since it is literally impossible for someone to tell what is going on hundreds of feet below the surface, there is no way for any company to say with 100% certainty that the fluid could not be fractured into the aquifer.
That is a dangerous game to play.. Especially since most areas where fracking is happening tends to be rural and below the poverty line.
Hate to hipster-out on this, but IMHO this has been pretty obvious for the past few years. It looks like all that was needed was a concise model that could be easily explained and enough evidence to back it up.
Just want to make sure I am understanding you. Are you saying that the real money in natural gas production is in environmental activism and that this multi-billion dollar protest industry has been fabricated from ONE incident of pollution caused by negligence? Sounds reasonable...
Its one thing to say that we could possibly destroy the Earth. That we cannot.
What we can do, however, is make the planet unliveable for our species, as well as many others.
The Earth will recover, but we cannot say the same for mankind.

You're very right that large-scale catastrophic events can happen. I think a good example would be the big meteorite that killed off the dinosaurs.
I can say that based upon geologic history, that it is very unlikely that hydrothermal vent activity would double.
