Grocery store behavior.

This evening while waiting in line at my local Railys, a woman in the next line had an unruly child in her cart. He continually leaned out to grab some candy. The mother, finally said, "If you grab for that candy one more time, I'll slap your hand".

The child stopped with a whimper. Then, the woman behind me said to the mother, "If you continue to threaten your child, he will grow up angry". Not kidding...that's what she said.

The mother, looked at the woman and said, "Or he will grow up taking whatever he want's, possibly your daughters virginity".

I, as you know, can be quite opinionated, just kept my mouth shut and watched the woman's expression of total surprise behind me.

She did not say one more word.

Score one for a mother who shut up her kid as well as the "nosy Nelly" behind me.

LOL. It must be a grocery store full moon or something, as I just witnessed something interesting also.

A woman, was screaming something I couldn't make out, and then got silent. She came down the frozen food isle (the one I was in), with her very unfortunate husband and started screaming again. "THEY HAD THE EFFING ICECREAM RIGHT HERE YESTERDAY!!!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON!!!!" Then she turned around and screamed into the air, "THAT'S RIGHT! I LOST MY EFFFING MEDICATION!!!! And just started screaming out curses. Supermarket manager came over and spoke to her husband who then escorted her out.

Fun stuff.

I didn't know Ben & Jerry made chlorpromazine fudge crunch.

for some reason, grocery stores compel people to do odd things. For example, a buddy of mine and I (who are normally very introverted people) were buying some stuff the other day, and decided to get into an in depth discussion of what the most optimal solution for deterring muggers when walking home with groceries. We ended up involving everyone in the checkout line. A consensus was reached, and we decided that a swift kick to the genitals and a hasty retreat into a public are was the most efficient solution.

AWESOME!!

I was a total expert on how wrongly others were raising their children, until I had a few.

This ^ ...was my wife.

Haha, and at least you can tell the mother meant her threat.

I hate being around parents who are just threatening parents. The child gets threatened like 20 times before anything actually happens letting them know they can always push the boundaries.

Sometimes I had no chances, sometimes one, it never verged into multiple chances.

I told you not to do that, WHACK!

Awesome!!! Wish I had thought of it...

I don't remember any repeated threats of discipline as a child, and I never did it to my children. I got, and so did my kids, a warning along with a suggested course of action to correct the socially unacceptable behavior. Failure to comply resulted in age/situation appropriate discipline.
