Those would all be very cool! For me, the Steinberger and the Ovation would particularly be interesting--never laid my eyes on either one in person. Thanks!

Hah - My van broke down on me in Austin (SXSW) this weekend so I had to leave it. I will be driving out after my show in my compact car rental to repair it. I'm good for the 27th there!

I have a gig Friday night but I'll be driving out in the morning on Saturday. I have to crack the whip on a mechanic while I'm there but other than that I will be free.

Just to mention this as a possible after clinic thing... I'm playing a set at a club called Link Removedin S. Austin at 9 pm.

It's the first gig with a new band, Sideshow Five. Rootsy rock, soul, garage, etc. I'll have to be out of the Bass Emporium by 8:30 to get there, but I don't have to bring a rig - we're jumping up for a set during someone's else's night.

Maybe some of you might make it down there, it's the other end of town, but not far.

From what I saw this past weekend the faces in Austin are young - most likely due to being a college town and all... I'm looking for the graduates/older sisters/maybe even the younger years mom... The crowd @ The Gingerman looked my type.

Cool River in North Austin or head down to the Warehouse District. 6th street is sometimes ok but is usually a little younger crowd.

Details:

Be there around 4 PM to smooze and play all kinds of fun basses!

store closes at 5-6 PM (or as soon as all of the customers leave).

Pizza and soda 6 PM or so.

Ed Friedland clinic 6:30 to 7:30 or so (BRING QUESTIONS for Ed)

7:30 to ????? hang out and then find food, beverage and MUSIC!

we will have give aways (i.e. T-shirts, strings etc).

Is this Friday or Saturday?

The Bass Emporium event is Saturday afternoon/evening. If the link isn't working for you, please check post 21 in this thread for the itinerary.

We're gonna catch some music somewhere on Friday night and again on Saturday night, but nothing's set in stone yet. Suggestions are welcome!

Not to steal Ed's after gtg idea, but The Elephant Room is hosting the Ephraim Owens Quartet. They always put on a great show, and The Elephant Room is just plain cool.

No problem! I don't see any "no kids" signs on the Bass Emporium site, so it should be fine. I've seen kids at other GTGs and it hasn't been an issue.
