Guild Pilot bass club?

I'd like to be in as well.Here's my 86 fretless which I picked up on consignment at a music store about 18 years ago for 100.-

I refinished it and reshaped the headstock a little.That's all.It is the best sounding fretless I have ever played.I would never sell it.

if they have the roller-type bridge as well, you can set them anyway you want...

but i just found an 86 maple bodied fretless on ebay!!!

i couldnt resist!! pics to come when i get it.

Can someone explain to me why these basses don't get more love? Every one I've played has been at *least* nice and in many cases head & shoulders nicer than a stock Fender, much cheaper used and they're US made (at least the older ones were!)

did you try raising the pickups on the E side?

Pretty much tried everything over the years.
Same results using P or J pickup.

Well, mine is similar to a Pilot bass, but its a Guild SB-602 I bought back in the early 80's. I played a Pilot on stage one night when a band I knew invited me to play a song and I liked it. A few month later I saw this bass and thought it was a Pilot bass, I later found out it was much more. Its a very rare guild SB-602, active electronics, EMG pickups, made in the USA. Its got the more rounded headstock, not the pointy one and I love it. I'll post some pics as soon as the camera batteries charge. So do I get a number?

the sb-602 is one of the pilot models. they made a few of them. the sb-602 being the most common.

the rounded headstock tells me it is made between 83-87. they started making the pointy headstock somewhere in the middle of 87.

I bought mine in Feb.84 and it was on the wall in the store I bought it from for a few months before I got it.

is the body painted or stained?

if you look at guildguitars.com you can find what year it is.

It has a pickguard, white pickguard on a black bass. The neck is better than any jazz bass I've ever played, fast as heck, really great tone from the EMG's and active electronics. I've had no problem dialing in my tone on any bass rig I've plugged into.
