I played this one last week and was less than impressed. I only messed with it for a few, as I am looking for a fretless, but there is a cheapie Ibanez FL they have that played way better than this one. Perhaps a proper setup could make a world of difference, who knows. Was pretty loud acoustically, being that it's hollow/semi-hollow.

Right.
I was thinking the same, or a white one. I would if I had play money. I just pulled the trigger on the semi hollow sx so I have what I need for now. I suppose.

I'd also flip the plate (like people do w tele guitars) so the vol knob is up front, and I like Duncan's throwback Antiquity single coil pup.

I made my quarterly jaunt from Chicago to Cleveland. I usually drive and stop at a bunch of GCs (and one Sam Ash) along the way.

The two interesting instruments were a Treker bass near Toledo and a Bootleg Pounder on the west side of Cleveland.

The Treker needs some sharp fret ends filed (it's been a long winter in the midwest).

The Bootleg is a gem. Odd bass really but plays and sounds great. The tiny little neck must have graphite in it as it feels stiff and the bass sustains well. Single Bart pickup (in about the MM position) and a single volume control with a silly/huge knob.

Not sure that either is a hot deal, but worth mentioning anyway.

The Carle Place NY store has a red Yamaha rbx170 with bassline pups and a badass 2 for $110. The precision volume pot is busted and is either all on or all off, but otherwise it's pretty good. I woulda bought it if it wasn't red.

I had to look that up. If someone bought this they could net $75 for that badass II and those pickups used are $75-90. It would be a nice backup bass and whenever you didnt want it gut it and sell off the upgraded parts.
