Anyway, I'm glad you like hip-hop now. It seems to me that when I go on talkbass there's a big "I hate hip-hop!" attitude. And when I'm out in the "real world" it's an "I hate country!" type of attitude. I think both groups need to open their minds and ears more.
I just started playing in a hip-hop band and it's been lots of fun. It's actually quite a challenge to come up with a unique bass line that helps the song, and to not overplay. It's tougher than you think, especially the last part.
