Having BassCliff Gig Report Withdrawals

Fun meeting last night as usual. It sure felt good to have a successful gig to talk about, we're hoping that the rest of our outside ones go off without a hitch but who knows what will happen with all this.

Interesting to hear about BassCliff's parachuting experiences, and watching Tony shake his head "no" the whole time he discussed it. He's not a fan I guess.

Chris, it was good to hear you're gigging. It'll be a while before my next one. In the meantime I'm working on a little project with the soundguy from The Ranch. Mark send me some tracks for a cover song. I'm going to pile some stuff on top of them and send them back for him to work his magic. It should be fun working my little recording setup.

I tried to take a screenshot last night before @Kitsapbass left but I hit the wrong button. Oops. Here's most of us.

Jumping out of a perfectly good airplane.....on purpose ? Has this quarantine thing finally taken its toll on poor Cliff. ;):D

I should scan some pictures of my skydiving adventures. I even have video I could digitize. I haven't jumped out of a plane for 20 years, since my youngest came along. I thought about getting back into it now, my daughter even wanted to go along for a while. But I think our new hobby will take up a lot of our disposable "fun" budget. Plus it will be something Mrs. BassCliff can enjoy with us. There are other enthusiasts among this group so we might have to get together and share the fun of my new hobby.

Here's a bit of fun. On July 4, 2014 while I was playing Gilley's with the KRB that weekend, my daughter and I jumped from the Stratosphere Hotel in Las Vegas. It's not quite a skydive but it's a fun ride!

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Sorry I missed the call/meeting last night. But like I said in the email having some more time off I need to play lots of catch up on work things now.

Up north next week Mon-Thur and a gig there on Tues night. 7-9 pm central time, in the town park gazebo on the shore of Lake Superior. According to the sound guy who is contracted to support these shows the crowds have been hit and miss in these days of rona-chaos. We're hoping the weather cooperates because the rain dates are inside the chamber of commerce building, band and sound tech only and FB live.

Double edged sword there, if it goes on outside it's lots of fun with a crowd. But if it's inside it'll be hard to maintain our energy but could get a great recording.

We'll see what happens. If any of you are interested, our group is Hijinx and if you have nothing else to do on Tues you could check the FB live show if it goes that route. I'll post on the page sometime Tues afternoon when we know what's going on.

Here is a link to our page Hijinx

Here is a link to the sound company, if it goes FB live Jd Bass

Have a good one, wish us luck.

Thanks Nate, appreciate the support!

As well as you Chris and Grant!

Chris, I did purchase an overdrive pedal, not the same one that you suggested but it may be here tomorrow for me to experiment with before the gig. I got a VOX on the recommendation of a local bassist. I'll let you know how I like it!

That sounds like it could either be fun or it could be a LOT of fun. :D

I'll try to catch your show! Thanks for letting us know! Good fortunes to you!

Hi guys!

Yeah? I have a friend who is just now arriving in Sturgis. I used to think she was just a little crazy.

That deal is crazy even under the best of circumstances.

I've never been but I'm sure you are more likely to die at Sturgis than you are from the corona virus. I think I'd like to go once just for the experience and bragging rights. But, yea, a totally nutty situation.

Speaking of which, here's a shot from last week's Zoom GTG. Unfortunately I took this shot just after @Bassed in NZ had to get back to work. He sometimes stops by on his lunch hour in his home office.

@dbase, @nixdad, @Holdsg, @Kitsapbass, @McG, @ak56, and @1bassplayinfool talked about basses and other things we were enthused about.

I also got a rough mix of a song Mark and I were working on. He sent me some tracks, I piled on some more track, and sent the back for him to mix down. It was fun.

TeachYourChildren.mp3

I converted the 50MB wav file to an mp3 file and uploaded it to my OneDrive. You might want to download it. The OneDrive player is not the best. I'm just starting to learn how to use my DAW. Hopefully the next one will be better. Thanks for letting me share. Take care, my friends.
