Also had an RD Artist. What it weighed at the beginning of the gig was NOTHING compared to its weight at the end!
There's nothing heavier than this THING.
Funny that the current Sterlings seem a lot heavier - like 1-2 lbs consistently - than the Stingrays. Is that just the preamp/knobs etc? Cause the body is smaller right?
Back in the day, when I played 5~8 gig a week, I had an Ibanez Musician that probably weighed in at 12+ lbs. It gave me upper back/neck issues for several years. Bad, really bad. I could not sit up out of bed in the morning. That's mostly passed by now. But as a result, I will not even consider a bass that hits 10 lbs

70's ash Fenders +12lbs tended to stick around the shops I worked at 25 years ago even when we dropped them to $350 to clear wall space. Heavy was in at the time.

I have a 1995 carvin neck through 5 string jazz style that is koa and maple and its at least 14lbs i cant play more than a set before i go grab the L2000. It really sounds amazing but it hurts to play.
I had a Wolf seven string that topped out at 13.6 lbs.
My current two are 10.6(Tune fretless)
......and 10.9 lbs(LTD D6)respectively.
10 lbs is the normal and average weight for me.

Mid 70's PBass. Must be northern ash. Comes in at 13.9lbs. Plays great and sounds great. I used to be 6ft, now I'm 5ft 10in.
The body is smaller, but I swear it feels like it’s made of iron. I don’t know why it’s so heavy.
Ordered a Carvin in 2014 that was black limba body and neck with a quilt top.
That bass weighed about 12lbs.
I ended up selling it because it was unmanageable....

Most of mine are about 9 pounds except for this Squier VM @10 pounds. The extra pound is quite noticeable and it is probably my upper limit.
My Spector NS5CR weighs 13lbs + 
In the hunt for a much lighter weight 5er as we speak. Probably will still keep it though...the tone IS amazing...

I've asked this before...what do you guys think is the heaviest wood? That Precision in the avatar is around 12lbs...it's a mahogany body I painted the neck is a '69 which I never got rid of, over the years I de fretted it had it refretted. I love heavy bases.
I have a Rondo PJ in swamp ash that had to be 12lb easily, didn't weigh it before I started surgery. Ultralites are on the way, usually I put a brass bridge on my basses but this will probably not be getting one. Heavier than either of my 5's, one of which is the tallest (pointy headstock)I own and the other is the only 35" scale I own.
