The single band parametric was needed to switch between fretted and fretless - i found the three band to be overkill for my needs.

Which one do you use? The only one which I am aware of is EWS BMC...

EWS BMC is what I use. There is also the JHS haunting mids ...Which one do you use? The only one which I am aware of is EWS BMC...

I used a Hofner as my main bass for a few years, and it was capable of generating a ton of low end, which could too much of a good thing. So a HPF would be very useful for preventing excessive boominess and tightening up the low end.Nice thread!
What about Rickenbackers and Hofners and such? Would you use HPF on those or is it more B string oriented?
From analyzing Rick and Hofner frequencies when recording I noticed these guitars have somewhat of a natural HPF.
Same problem with an upright. Couldn’t live without my HPF now.I used a Hofner as my main bass for a few years, and it was capable of generating a ton of low end, which could too much of a good thing. So a HPF would be very useful for preventing excessive boominess and tightening up the low end.

I really notice it with my 5 string bass. I set it around 40-42 Hz and it is pure magic. I think it should be a must in every pedalboard.

IndeedSome of the better, modern amps have adjustable HPF's built in...with others, a pedal or an external device is available. After trying the "Always On Broughton" with my current set up, I would never leave home without it.
I would love to have it tried with with my old Peavey Combo 300 with extra 15" Cab and my old Gibson EB2-DC before I sold them. They were the perfect example of muddy boom!
I've seen those on Reverb. They sure look like an HPF-Pre clone. The frequency range for the HPF is the same.Rafferty experience?

Open source is not the same as free to commercialize.Rafferty appears to be based in Ireland. Of so, then it makes total sense that they would copy Fdeck's HPF-Pre: it's open source, and I don't believe Francis ships to Europe.

Both.I'm not actually familiar with the laws around that, is there legal prohibitions from doing so? Or was that meant as more of a moral point?
