How many pedals do you use on a job?

As a jobber (sub) my role changes constantly. I use the tools the job calls for
- Blues: Straight in
- Classic rock, funk, disco: Line 6 M13 multi effects including, but changes- two different filters, leslie, chorus, delay, boost (with a tiny big of hair), comp, octave......
I can go six months without turning on any kind of dirt pedal.

Five that are (almost) always on - noise gate, EQ, active splitter, compression, distortion. Four others on sometimes - tuner, HOG, and two different delays.

It depends on the bass and the music I am playing (and with who).

This ranges from just a tuner (playing with an acoustic guitarist) up to around 12 when doing solo looping.

I haven't tried carrots in an orange stomp box yet, but it is now on my GAS list

Honestly, in 40 years of gigging, even on the few theater level shows, its always been bass+cord+ampeg.
I toyed with a 5 band eq box way back in the late 70s.....mostly because I was still playing Gibsons..... once I got my P, never used another stomp box of any kind.
In the studio's, they always wanted a dry signal in, then we could manipulate the sound in the board. Live, I just dialed in my tone at the amp.
Simple, simple, simple......

For my "underground" gig, a Mesa V-twin for some brutal grind, used with a Bass vi.

Back in the day when I was working as a bass player I wouldn't use any pedals unless I was in a pit band doing a show. Then I always used a volume pedal.

EBS MultiComp - always on - and a Korg tuner. With my tribute band, I will use the EHX Green Russian Big Muff for one song. So 99% of the time it's compressor and tuner into my SVT-CL.

Depends on the gig, sometimes 1, sometimes 15 or 16. But most are business pedals, and fun ones are outnumbered almost always.

I use a compressor and a preamp as part of my regular tone; add in a tuner and that's three. My pedalboard has 10 in all, including a line selector. In my one band (quintet, sometimes sextet) I probably only turn on an effects pedal once or twice a set. In my other band (trio) I use effects way more often than not. In a repertoire of about 50 songs, it breaks down to about 10 songs apiece in various combinations of: dry, octave up and/or down, OD, fuzz, envelope filter, chorus, and/or phaser.

I'm mostly an originals guy, but even on my last covers gig I was glad to have an OD and chorus on board.

Bass pedals? My direct box. I don't even take an amplifier on stage. Then again, I have a great sound man who knows me, knows the mix, and without him I would not sound worth anything.

I use ms60b for tunner and comp(occasionally) but I still have a GAS for B7K and M87
