I GET IT. P BASSES ARE AWESOME.

I play a Lakland 44-51 p-bass (Skyline). I also frequent GC and other shops and play all sorts of different axes. Then I come home and play my bass and it just sounds . . . right.
I avoided P Basses forever. Then I bought one. Then a second. Now I own two Ps and a Jazz, and for an all-around workhorse the P wins every time (but I still love my Jazz)...I like a lot of different basses. One of my favorite things to do is go to GC after work (it's a few blocks away), and play all the different basses through all the different amps. Fun fact: my GC has a great selection and a wonderful staff. They know me by name. I really like active humbucker basses, like my new Ibby SR405EQM, but man... Those Ps!!! I didn't get it at first. At all. I thought active humbucker basses and jazz basses outstripped Ps by a mile. I own several P/J basses, and ALL of them have the P pups soloed. So here's to being happily wrong!!!

I used a P on my bands first album, and a stingray on our newly recorded songs. Lets just say I like the bass tone on the new songs more. Please don't shoot me.
When I first started out....I didn't want a P Bass!! anything but!! then, I bought a "Boat Anchor" 1978 P-Bass!! .....Now, I'm an a P-Bass Junkie!!! I can't Get Enough!!

The white is a Dee Dee Ramone sig, I'm guessing?
I really do like the black one.
MIA Fender Ps are amazing. The neck on those are indescribable.

My p-bass is an active humbucker bass ...
P Basses have a way of looking flat out bitchen when they're really worn. (Think: George Porter Jr's thrashed late 50's Sunburst P.)
Boutique Basess, meh, not so much.
I went to a show last week with 4 different bands, all of which had Fender P basses in hand. They all sounded good, but man did I find it boring! I understand the appeal...I just prefer other options.
I kinda want a PBass with a smaller body than the Fender/Squier bodies, since I'm not the largest dude. I had a Corsair P/J but sold it, and looking back I probably should have kept it, despite a neck I really didn't care for. The body was the same shape as a Fender/Squier but definitely smaller. It probably wouldn't bother me as much if I bought a true Fender, I do know they weigh less.
My Squier is now my 3rd in rotation, but it would only get replaced by another 5 string P style bass. The Sunburst/Tort with Maple neck is just beautiful to me though, so it's a hard bass to part with even though it isn't gigged.
Anyways the Squier gotta get some love.
