I Present the IdiotBox Effects's Blower Box

Yes, Overdrive adds compression for sure. It can sound like a wet blanket on top of your higher gain distortion for sure. You can get cool lo-fi sounds out of it through, so not all bad ;) That is part of the beauty of Phil Jones amps in my opinion. What comes out of your board comes out of the speakers :) That's why a clean amp can be your friend sometimes... Won't stop me from getting a non-clean amp though :)
I don't have tube heads. I just noticed my pedals took considerably less gain to get as grindy as some demos I heard. Always wondered why. Seems like this could be part of it. Not a complaint or anything, just always trying to learn as much as possible.

Yeah, any OD or compression can do that.

The best at doing so that I have found so far is the Cave Passive Super Grunt when used in super mode. Complete muffler. Like putting a meter thick piece of foam in front of your speakers :)

I couldn't find anywhere and ended up buying direct from Idiotbox, the postage cost was very reasonable compared to other people I've bought from and I don't know if you're in the UK but mine didn't have any charges when it got here.

The only thing is the wait!
Hmm yes that may be the best option, how long did you have to wait?

i traced the circuit in mine and just built an exact clone of a blower box only in a smaller enclosure (1590B). it sounds identical but since i socketed the Jfet's drain transistor so it has more output than the stock one.
i'm only going to keep one but i'm not sure which one i'm going to sell. i modded my original so it has a lot more output so with the gain/drive all the way down it can still go way past unity gain.

here's a couple of pics of the new 'mini' BB:

Well that didn't take long! The large size is the only reason I haven't tried a Blower Box yet. Looks like the clone could easily go into a 1590B with top jacks which is right up my alley!

Any way to mod the original to that size? Just asking, because I love that gas mask fella (Voivod)!

I absolutely love my BlowerBox and I'll always make room for it's 2 eyes! I like mine just the way it is ;)

(Yes by always I mean for a while..)
Kiding aside, I really like the original box and I think matt deserves his $$ for making a quality product that somehow just managed to hit a sweet spot! Please don't sell BB clones :(

Just to be clear, I did NOT intend to suggest clones be made. Hence, "How can the original be modded?" Matt deserves his cash! But I just like to know the possibilities, even if I don't want to utilize it that way. Maybe I could buy a second BB and mod it...

Anyway, anyone have clips of the BB at very low settings? Most I see are on the extreme side, but I hear lighter OD is great too! Settings?
