But I've always been willing to sell things for high prices. I have done it in the past. I don't list things for high prices ever because I am not into flipping, but if someone offers me a crazy price for something I am not looking to sell as a way to try to motivate me to sell...then sure I consider the offer. I think it's douchey to buy something and decide it's not for you and then list it for more than you paid. I don't think it's douchey to accept an unsolicited offer that is more than you paid...if you don't see the line between those then so be it. It's a meaningful nuance to me.

There's a universe of things that happen behind the scenes. I have been offered tempting money for basses I own but have always turned it down. Those deals never represent any kind of market value they are just instances where a stupid unsolicited above market offer comes in and people are put in a unique position. It happens with homes all of the time. I got a handful of them when I listed my Sunray for trade and I parted with several Broughtons back in the day when someone reached out with an offer I couldn't refuse...and similarly I have made offers on things not for sale to both success and failure.

I have bought one pedal with the intention of flipping it, an MXR vintage bass octave I saw for sale for $50 that I sold for $$100, which is still a really good deal. I have never bought an iron ether pedal for the purpose of reselling it, but you attacked me, implying I don’t deserve to have the pedals. What is the difference there? You also said there’s no difference between charging $20 over and $200 over, so aren’t you doing that even if t wasn’t “for sale?” If someone gives you an offer and you decide to sell, I personally think you, and you alone, should have to sell it for less than its msrp and less than what you paid for it, since that’s how you want everyone else around you to manage their pedals.

I would love for the kind person that sold it to this knucklehead for a super reasonable price to let us know who they are, so we can avoid selling to them...feel free to let me know in a PM. Their Reverb store clearly shows that they buy cool pedals and try to sell for an enormous profit. People like that really burn me. Good luck doing that with any of the small builders that I know personally. They'll call you out publicly and shame you. What a drag.

One only needs to read the feedback left by the seller. I for one have added a name to my known-flippers list.
