Yes its a boost but after so much time with my ultrawave, the Jive fell short. Better with passive bass but my 2 fav basses are active and it turns the good sounds to mud, doesnt have the range of harmonics to utilise, bottom end falls away with the distortions. Couldnt see the big deal.

Are you speaking about Jive? My experience has been different (opposite). It works great with my active Musicman bass...

Works great with both my P bass (EMG GZR) and my 3 band Stingray (90s). I actually boost all three EQ knobs on my Ray a bit. No issues. Don't use switches on the Jive usually, and it's a great dirty boost that with great headroom too. And this is on 9V, it sounds bigger on higher voltages, but I still prefer the dirty tone with 9V.

I can just get so much from my Ultrawave..... Clean Boost, saturation, grit, grind, dirt. EQ, comp, 2 channel, distortions, morphing, expression all playing a part to shape & control sounds.

A lot of dirt pedals can do a nice "on the verge of breakup" tone, it's all about what sounds best to you. Plenty of great choices out there.

I keep telling myself this and my wife too but self delusion, GAS and spare change will always be a temptation.

Another option is to add some 'vintage' grit to my synth pedals as I am doing a whole new project on that side of things.

I have re-arranged my large pedalboard. Jive is still on it (in the Broughton FFXL).

My Jive haz arrived and I'm digging the various shades of grit, grind and grunt. It added a nice texture to my FI v4 very similar to AMP on some of my old analog synths. It also has the sound and feel of playing thru an old underpowered bass combo like my old PV TNT 100 and even the Combo. 4 levels to choose from if you vary the input with lots of output gain. My P bass gets some delish variations that are spicy.
I will likely buy a bass version once it is offered, maybe just to get some more of those nifty cool stickers. My wife is excited to plant the seeds in the sachet that we guess are sunflowers.

That reminds me, i had it sounding badass with a Damnation audio Bloop, maxing out thet drive on the jive but keeping the low end with the bloop.. I love my jive but i'd be interested in a bass version too! I use my jive as a boost at the moment but should really revisit that sound!

Got my Jive a few days ago, really lives up to the hype so far. Responds well to fingerstyle dynamics in a way other drives haven't done for me.

I couldn't really pick up on the subtleties as much using it out loud but on recording/over headphones the glue and crunch it adds feels great. Was using it at 18v but suppose I should try it at 9v to see if I like it better.

Got it at a nice discounted price new, would also be interested in the bass version whenever that is!

i have and to me it's not even close. IMO the DCX bass is much better by a ton. i still have my Jive but i have two DCX bass 's
