Jule Amps Monique part 5

Wonderful! Listening now. A treat and an education for people like me who can't readily audition all those amps. Cool, too, how the character of the different instruments comes through -- you can hear the difference between the '55 and '63 Precisions (I know that one's got flats and the other rounds, but I still think I hear a big difference between the single coil 'pup and the split P).

I just did a 500 seat semi closed auditorium with the Monique 700 and opened it up for the first time.
(no p.a. support!)
I used the 210 flex and the Monique at about 830 on the line level and just laughed...
The headroom is unlike any amp I have heard. This rig allows me to bring my 33" scale Erizias to RnB gigs
and play feather light with the right hand while sounding like a velvet sledgehammer.

What, if any is the difference between the 700 and the preamp through the Demeter mini. Or any other power amp you may have used?

I have compared the Monique 700 to the Ice modules and P.A. power and its no comparison to my ears. The Hypex module is flatter and has giant headroom
, more detail and impact. It is the best power section I have used for bass. I am used to esoteric power for studio monitoring and mastering but this
is the first time I have heard anything like this live. My guitarist and I were cracking up last night cause I would barely touch the strings of my bass
and the notes would just jump out of the cabinet. I used so little right hand effort it was freaky. The effect is that there is very little change
in caracter to the sound as the DB levels increase. Everything stays firm and full. What a beast! Hi Fi , Gigantic and so loud.......

When you mention the Ice modules, are you referring to running through the effects return of the Aguilar TH500 or to something else?

You're obviously enjoying your rig!

Nomatic,
Do you think it (Monique) will change your technique or do you just dial the sensitivity to match your style? I'm sure it will also take you to different levels/techniques. What do you think?

I would say that Monique amplifies micro dynamics in right hand technique depending on the sensitivity control. It both a microscope
and cosmetic at the same time. Quite forgiving actually.......
My technique is better since the 700 as I can play lighter and more dynamic.

Nomatic,

Have you ever used Monique paired with a Minnie? I had the same experience above when I changed from using the power section of my Puma 900 to using the Minnie as my power. There was a tremendous difference. I'm sure the 700 is great, and I'm eager to try the standalone 700 power amp when it comes out, but I'm wondering if you would have noticed that drastic of a change if you were coming from using the Minnie as your power instead of the Puma.

I understand that there is a different power module in the 700 than the Minnie so there will be a difference and much more headroom due to its power handling and high slew rate. It would be cool if you could do a comparison between the Minnie with Monique, as opposed to the new Monique 700 you have. Thanks.

Thanks. Been using Monique in front of a Berg IP 112. Not sure I like the DSP at higher volume. I keep wanting more high end articulation. Low end and even volume are fine, but...... I'm thinking a separate power section and a good 410 cab???
So this has caught my attention.

Monique/Minnie does acoustic on the patio!

Mid 90 degrees in the sun with a good afternoon crowd at a great local Mexi/Cali restaurant. 2 acoustic guitars and my Morgan Monroe ABG.

Great gig but my E string was barely able to be heard. Very weird. Might be a piezo problem but it made me scramble to play in a higher register. Not fun to avoid the E string whenever possible when you don't really know the material! I am a huge proponent of bringing a backup but didn't for the first time in years.

Monique sounded great as usual (and as it has for the last 2+ years). Still in love with Jule's amps!
