I have rounds on my tort guard P bass. I have flats on my other P bass with the gold guard.

But my 3rd P bass is a PJ and has modern neo blade pickups and a black pearl guard.

I like either rounds or flats on a Pbass. They both sound good. Flats are mellow and smooth and rounds sound aggressive. On my ash Pbass, rounds sound like a nasty buzz saw - rather like Entwistle on "Live at Leeds"! Having said that, I use pressure wounds on my Pbasses because and like my sound somewhere in the middle of the two extremes.

That's kinda the tone I'm going for...

Never liked flats or tort. Shhhhh...

Not a fan of tort, a sometime fan of flats, and couldn't get the white guard off this bass fast enough.

TBPH, the only thing about bass playing orthodoxy I've seen anywhere regarding sacrilège would be playing with a pick. Apparently, that's a big deal with seemingly a lot of bassists out there, and maybe here.
