Kustom 200 tuck and roll?

do they have to be exotic and expensive JBLs?

wouldn't a pair of $100 eminence kappa 15As kick butt in that cab?

as for the tube amp thing, what tube bass amp won't run at 4Ω?

conversely, if this amp won't do 4, will it do 16Ω? a pair of normal 8Ω speakers could be wired with a switch, or with two jacks, to choose between 4Ω and16Ω.

I am original owner of a '71 black T&R Kustom 200-B with Stock CTS speakers [ 2 @ 16 oms each]. When mine was purchased I knew nothing or I would have chosen Altec or JBL options.

Another way to take the "suck" out of an old Kustom without spending a lot of $$$$ on replacement speakers is to use a Furman PQ-3, which is a pre-amp and 3 band fully parametric EQ. Definate tone improvement without replacing speakers.

Downside: Furman PQ-3 is no longer in production and costs about what one JBL would cost, but less than an Eminence replacemant, IMHO.

Find a PQ-3, buy it, plug it in..Instant great tone.

My black face-reissue Furman PQ-3 Has a switch on the front, which engages Preamp only[ toggle-up], or Parametric EQ only[ toggle down].

I don't have time to do research and post pics, but
look up TBer FilCo, who shows a picin Amp forum..just like mine. First knob on left is volume. Second frame on front has EQ engage, mini toggle and by-pass [ Para metric only].

Only difference between Black re-issue original Green face with rust knobs is color. Green face is more collectable; more $$$

Several years ago at an audition, I was told a cab would be provided. It was a T&R Kustom cab with 3 JBL's; don't know the ohmage. I ran my Acoustic 370 on top of that tall cab. It sounded glorious without being a folded horn.

A couple of years ago, my wife bought me a Marshall 1550: 200 watt-1x15 Celestion.
Even though it is 8 ohms, with my T&R Kustom 200 head, the Marshall cab sounds much better than my Kustom 200 2x15 CTS cab. That little Marshall is light and powerful. It would be well suited to those with "light weight cab fever", without breaking the bank. Downside: No longer in production. Find one and buy it.

I have since learned that Kustom made a 1-18 folded horn T&R cab. I believe it was rated @ 150 watts, but I would love to run my Kustom head or my Acoustic 370 into one of those.

In an old band I was in, the lead singer had this old Kustom Tuck & Roll speaker column that I used. It had two 15" drivers and a massive horn driver on top. I played my Behringer BX4500 head through this and it sounded massively cool!

Did some research on this cabinet and found out that this was more than likely a speaker column from one of the old Kustom PA systems.

I contacted my old friend recently and was going to purchase this cabinet from him for $150 but we never got in contact and I ultimately went a different route and spent that money on some other G.A.S items that are filling up my music room!
