I think you should try Chromes(to get is sitting in the mix) on it before you cut her loose. Maybe upgrade pickups? From what I hear...Laklands aren't as dark as Barts. Glad the DJ rocked...knew it would!
Wow. Looks very handsome. You have any clips yet?
Hmm...maybe. Upgrade to the LH system is what like $400 or so? Not sure if I wanna go that route and then still be disappointed. Do you think string-thru-body has anything to do with it?

...I adjust the treble, etc. for the room and the band mix on my amp accordingly. My point is that since the Barts are supposedly much darker than the LH-3 system, you might have to pre-emptively brighten the bass with the preamp in order to give your amp something acceptable to tweak within the band concept. I always used to think that treble was the enemy, but it depends on how the bass and amp respond to treble tweaks.
Switching to rounds might help as well, but you can get a good, solid top end out of flats on a fretless by massaging the treble and mids.
The tone is in there... just keep tweaking.
Dougie, even YOU own a defective bass....![]()

heres incubus playing their new tune at KROQ , with Ben playing the sweet dual j
doug or greg, do you guys know what pickups are in that bass?
Here is me playing my lovely Darryl Jones Skyline Jazz Bass at a gig a few weeks ago. This was a hilarious gig because just after we did our set, another band rocked up but there was no keyboardist or bassist so half of my band joined their signer and drummer. The conversation went liek this
"You guys know any Funk?"
No
"Jazz?"
No
"Soul?"
"What do you know then?"
80s and Blues
We ended up playing shambolic versions of Superstition, Mustang Sally, Gimme Some Lovin, Chameleon and one of my band's originals Moon and Spoon. Good times
Can I have a number please![]()
Holy shnikeys, did we REALLY just go 14 hours without a post? Oh well, it's good to see so much activity over on the LOG site!

OK, I got one last 3 way trade in before I leave town at noon today to go get one of my sons married off. New Glaub neck coming for the fretless so I can trade it for John's 44-02. I feel much better now. BTW, new quote from Fergus in my top banner... so true, so true!!
I'll be back on the 17th, so you will probably be at least on #23 or #24 by then, LOL.
Later!!
Funny that this comes up...I'm actually thinking...maybe I should swap out the neck on my silver JOCS for a fretless neck. Anyone have a fretless US Lakland JO, that would want to go fretted? It would have to be in killer shape since this neck is pretty much new.
im selling my chi'd hollowbody to buy a db750,
if anyone is intersted,im posting it tonight when i get home.
well ive been meaning to post a pic of my glaub since ive done the work on it.![]()
