Woops, I'm so used to 20 people chiming in that I didn't even think about it, lol.

don't be dropping the ball now Randy!!! geesh!!!!

You DO have an excuse...sounds like a busy week.....

BTW: (WAY off topic but......)I have a "hostile" client meeting I am really not looking forward to tomorrow....good thoughts (and prayers) appreciated!

sounds like you had a GREAT time....maybe we will have to work on Dan a little...hmmmm????
Indeed, we will! They're deciding on a date for next year's GTG now.

Hostile? Ouch! Prayers will be sent your way, my man.

Jesse - any new news? I still see a semi-finished bass in your avatar...how is DC?

Hey Doug!! I dig the blog/posting onslaught! lol Thanks for asking. DC is justing kicking along. I had my first practice tonight with a Christian pianist/songwriter. Good tunes!! Thursday I audition for our new church - to get in rotation. Lots of great players there, but I may slide in anyway. :)

The avatar pic was the body and neck still just roughed and laying together (in the biblical sense :eyebrow: ). But I am one of the next ones in line. Very very soon.

Prayers of calm and peace for the difficult client tomorrow.

Just a couple pics that the wife took of me putting Agent Orange through the paces this weekend....

I may not make any friends by saying this, but she is amazing and hopefully will never ever leave me (the bass ;)

Anybody else crazy enough about Laklands (like me) to get a LOG tattoo? Anyone got any ideas for one? Markus??

Please no barbed wire arm bands w/ a 55-94 tangled up in it LOL.

Dude, remember those ole tats, "I sold my soul to rock-n-roll"? No matter what your picture will be, make a frame around it saying: "I sold my @$$ to Lakland bass" :)

STILL ON 22????? oh well!!!

Sorry - nothing new but I needed to get your attention...so:

went to Lakland on Friday to pickup Blondie and my fretless 55-94......

all I can say is WOWSA!!!! the Red Barron (as I decided to name it) really snarls and whines wid da best o dem!!!! those 10 or so coats of acrylic and some nickles really make it sing! as an added "bonus" the neck now shines almost as nice as the bass does.....Carl is sure an artist!!! He also set the neck with the tiniest bow to maximize the growl!

I used it exclusively on Sunday and everyone loved.....yea baby!!!

also - Blondie got a thorough look-see by Carl....needed a set up and the bottom strap button fixed.... that was all (whew!!!!)

Not really too much new to report....left my camera at home (accidentally - duh!!!)....but here are a few things:

1) saw a sweet deluxe blue 55-94 with maple neck.....this was one of the ones that was on the paint rack when I dropped the bsses off.....ubber cool! Carl said that, when Lakland first did that combo, Bass player magazine said it was like a maple diving board over a cool ocean full of waves....they were right!!!

2) saw John McVee's new bass.....a US Dunn with one of the most beautiful (and I mean beautiful) pieces of wood I have ever seen on a Lakie...one piece and nicely grained.....look for it on tour soon....interesting - it had EMG pickups.....

3) Carl "taught" me a new way to "bend" noted on a fretless....he said to NEVER bend the strings (up and down on the fretboard....he says this scrapes the board and kind of muddies the tone...he said, instead, to "roll" your finger along the string....gives a "truer" sound and does not scrape the board.

4) Carl was filling me in on some pickup "ideas" he has - WAY over my head.....looking for a more "even sound" all the way through the notes......will not be anything "visible" but it MAY improve the sound....he has some experimenting to do before anything gets into production.....

5) Leo said more Skyline Blems will be available soon (mostly -02s).

6) an anonymous (well they would not tell me who) was coming into the shop that afternoon to show Carl and Dan a "new innovative" wiring idea for the HB bass......not sure what that MAY turn into but Dan was excited to see what he had to show him.

that is all for now (at least in this post!!!)

at times I really wish I had a coming trip to the USA... like right now

Amen to THAT...the ecomony DOES look like it MAY be improving.....we can only hope...all we need is 30 people with some spare cash and a love for this combo......you wanting another Lakie P5 already???? yeh baby!

since my Shoreline is [I think] being sold, payment pending, count me in for a P5

...if no other Lakie possesses me before, mwa hhhaaa hhhaaa...

Nice pics, Randy. The BG5's looking great! How's it sounding?

More Chi clips are on the way. In fact, I just sent Markus a full set of clips for a Skyline Decade with single coils. Those should be up on the site soon. Also, I just completed a US HB with Chi humbuckers. I recorded 2 full sets of clips with that bass - one set in humbucking mode and the other set in single coil mode. Super cool bass (and pickups). I still need to mix those files, but should have that all done in a week or so. Then they're out the door to Markus.

Thanks for your patience! I know it's been awhile since the audio portion of the site has been updated. But I promise I'm on it!

Ian

Nice Rack Ian (did I just say that?????)

anyways - sweet collection! Love the Coral Pink P/J!!!! Definitely enough Lakie content to allow it... BTW - any idea when more CHI clips are coming? people really want them!!!
