It came down to the decision between white/maple/tort and black/maple/pearloid.

Both look amazing so I might just have to get the black one as well later on and string one with flats

They can do it, but i think the routs for the ears of the MM would still be there. There's a 55-02 that got dual chi-buckers and the pickups aren't as wide as the original humbucker. check for the chi-sonic thread.

I agree with Jesse....you MAY need a pick guard when you are done....I was just mentioning this to Carl the other day when I was there picking up my basses and he said it is possible....

OK, I took the new DJ5 to rehearsal and it was crazy.... I almost went home, the darn bass was all but playing itself!!! I looked down and was actually playing on the "B" string instead of using it as a thumb-rest.
What the heck?!?!??

this thread should be shut down. all these pics have caused me to lose 2 keyboards to drool soakage.

this thread has also inspired me to order a 55-01 natural/maple. due in 3 to 5 business days. i bet i'll lose another keyboard before it shows up.

hinmt - put a plastic bag over your keyboard and save the $$$$ for another Lakie!!! congrats!!!! can't wait to see what you think about it....
