well....the BG5 has picked up steam again.....most likely with a "std" P pickup and MAYBE a P/J config...I am with you on the teal but many have suggested somehting "more classic"...

no poll.....just - can we get 30 blonde P (or P/J) with blocked maple necks???? that seems to be the hot ticket (this week!)

PS - if we cannot get this...I think I will have to start saving the pennys 'cause I REALLY want one - one way or another.....do no Skyline means US model (argh!!!)

Hey Guys,

few days ago i got my Skyline Joe Osborn. Great cost/performance-ratio in my opinion. Nice cutting-through tone, fine craftmanship and it has a very nice feeling to it.
I really really like it and i doubt that this will be my last LAKLAND

I want to share it's subjective beauty with you:

A thing i consider is refinishing the headstock... sometime it looks kinda yellow, but thats the only issue i can think of.

our gauges are metric though, I'll have to convert inches and it gets odd. Like, 1" = 25,4 mm. .008" is, well... 0,2032 mm. Gonna be fun!

yeh....and we use our "." and "," differently as well......

I remember they (US Gov't) TRIED to get us to go metric in the 70s....never caught on.....should have.....but didn't....

the US is always the stubborn holdout.....(and darn proud of it as well! he he!!!)

I got my new Lakland Skyline Decade yesterday !!!

The beauty is a beast !!! It is a P Bass on steroids !!!! The finish is absolutely perfect, the neck is once again what makes me another Lakland neck fanatic and the Tone is deep, deep, deep !!!

Along with my DJ4, which sounds amazing and very different than the Decade, these are making a great pair together !!!!

anyone need a better testimony?????? I agree...those CHIs are Ps (and Js for the J type) on steroids.....and people were afraid of them when we talked about a CHI'd P bass.....

I scoff at them-huh! (in my WORST french accent....SOMETHING...where are you when I need a good Frenchman?????)

Well, last I checked, they weren't done with the Lakland P5 pickup. That's why I had to go with the Nordy in my BG5.

Opps, forgot to post about this.

I picked it up this morning. First impression was not good im afraid.
I think i was shocked at how small it was and it reminded of one of those 3/4 guitars Argo sell. Its also pretty light.
But after sitting down with it im very happy. Its nice to have a Lakland neck again. Ive been saying recently how well im getting on with the P5 but after a few min's on the DJ5 i now remember why i wanted one.
Very fast neck and i prefer the smaller fret wire Lakalnd use. I had forgotten about that and i think this makes a huge difference. I still like the P5 neck but after playing the DJ5 for a few mins the P5 now feel "clunky" to me.
I cant tell if there is a difference between the DJ5 neck and the 5501/JO% neck. There is spec wise but not sure it really makes a difference. Certainly my worries were put to rest once i started playing it.
Ive not plugged it in to an amp yet, although i played it through my PC using guitar rig in to headphones. Lovely tone but i will change the strings for Elixirs once i get back off holiday. Im pretty sure the Elixirs have more punch and i like the higher tension. For now though the Lakland strings are fine. I used to use them all the time on my 55-01.

Finish is perfect and im hoping the sparkle with bring it to life under stage lighting.
Really looking forward to gigging it tonight.

Ive taken a few ropey pics quickly but ill do some better ones when i get back. Im also ordering a Black scratch plate for it as soon as i can.

Dave: REALLY sweet! I think a black DJ5 will be my next DJ5 (maybe ala Geddy Lee???)

I can definitely tell the difference in the necks....I like the JO/55- series necks better but the DJ neck is still comfortable....and the blocks and matching headstock are always favs of mine!
