It's cool to see pics of these together, you can see the differences: the bridge on mine is about an inch further toward the strap button, and I've got one less fret = 35" scale. Matty's has the KILLER BEM that all the older Lakies have... I'm envious ;). You can also see why I'd like Roger to make me 2 MM style pickguards: a B/W/B and an abalone (will match the dots).

they have made a few XS (eXtended Series) basses over the years (see LOG site for a Decade XS)....not too many....and all atrung BEAD....I do believe they were all custom...were suppsoed to be an option but not enough interest...

The necks are probably the same size and length, but the fretboard is fretted and dotted for 35" scale. Carl never told me how the neck came to be, since (I believe) they get their necks from an outside source nowadays. He may have built it from scratch like in the early days. I'll ask him next time I give him a call.

Plus I forgot there were 3 basses...Midas, Denis black one, and the one on Ebay.
All three were ORIGINALLY routed for traditional J pickups.
Why would they have them routed for J's, then install J's in Chi casings?

Yeh - I agree....so start poiunding their web site to find out how we can get hold of their bass player.....I think he uses Fenders.....we can get him to switch I am sure.....actually, I am impressed that he can do all he can on a 4 banger!!!

maybe we can convince Dan to give him "artist" status....should be easy...
