oh man! that would be humilating....

as for tight clothes...that is becoming more and more of an "option" these days...either the dryer is shrinking them or I am "filling them out" more...wonder which it is???

I won one of those work related "dress badly" days once....had to do with a (much too tight) hawiian shirt (which had to stay open because it would not button)....i was wearing a t-shirt under it (so no comments anyone! :) )

...don't remember what the prize was though..was a long time ago...

nice thing about a Lakie is ...even "uber tricked out" I dare you to spend over $5K!

...can't be done.....I dare anyone to try....and i would put it against any $10K+ bass you can find for looks and playability.....

I would get 2 Uber hot Lakies for under $10K....

If I could afford a US Lakland, I'm not so sure. It almost seems like, whereas Roger's exquisite taste in wood makes the fancy-topped Sadowsky a fairly common thing, Laklands seem to be more Fendery, with the identity part covered by the bridge and the headstocks.

I think that, if I were to trade up my 55-02 to a 55-94, the top would have to be flamed or something, but the AJ series kind of leaves me cold.

Sorry, didn't want to go there, because once I get to thinking about it, I'll want to buy it. And I am not in a position to spend the coin for another expensive bass this soon. Just saving myself some GAS pains.

Ok Roadkill (is it Gary?) I'd get a '51 style P built: 1.625 nutwidth, quartersawn neck but highly FLAMED maple, highly figured birdseye fretboard w/ white binding, ebony dots, split Fralin '51 (humcancelling) tele P p'up in standard position and another one (custom built for wider string spacing) placed in 60s J bridge position, 2 stacked v/t pots, nitro CAR on body and nitro on neck also, red tort guard or maybe a cream pearl.

Ok, Ok, I'll pitch in with my dream Lakie:
It would be a 55-AJ, but with twin Chi-buckers, so it's basically a 55-07 with the jazz body shape. Then, ebony fingerboard, quartersawn maple neck. Quilted maple top, in blueburst, matching headstock (without the quilt). Abalone dot markers on the neck. And the preamp would be the Glockenklang three-band preamp, with the control knob layout of the 44/55-AJ basses, plus coil selector switches for the pickups.

Thoughts?

Nice. Make 'em 5vers, and I'd be all about those basses. Especially if the PG is cream pearl instead of tort.

Interesting thing: the neck on my Sadowsky is nitro finished. You have to be careful to protect a nitro finish from stands that have PVC-based foam. My axe came with a little 'sock' for the neck support part of my stand.

PS: I *think* Holsdg is Gary. I'm Jes.

You sir, are have expensive taste. I love it. I tried to order my Sad*sky with abalone dots, but CITES won't let 'em across the border.

Nice choice on the Glock pre. What makes you want that instead of the LH3?

What makes me choose the Glockenklang? Three things:
1) Not as expensive as you might think. The three band is £140, I believe.
2) Never heard of anybody matching Lakland pickups with them. Aguilar, Audere and Bartolini yes, but never Glockenklang.
3) Human Base put them in their factory-spec stuff (with Delano pups) and the treble sounds AMAZING. Check out this review from the master of reviews, Ed Friedland. How could you possibly NOT want to match that with the sheer power of the chisonics? :

Wow. That sounds gorgeous. The slap voice is just how I like it, too. I like. I'll definitely think of Glock if I ever decide to replace the pre in my 55-02.

And the price isn't *that* crazy compared to what I'd have thought. Who knows how the price translates once you add shipping and duty for North America, though...
