This bass sounds EXCELLENT on those tunes!!!

She has some excellent grind..

I can get the EXACT sound on"Sunday Bloody Sunday"...."Where the Streets Have No Name"..."Sharp Dressed Man" and others.

Also Played "Who's Crying Now"....sounded good although I realize the original recording is a fretless....My Carlo CB550 can nail that But it sounded good on Jade!

I am REALLY glad (and lucky) to have gotten this bass back!

Bass strings online has a great selection of short scale strings. I didn't love the black nylon tapes from labella. I have a pretty new used set sitting around. I ended up loving a set of short scale light guage labella deep Talkin flats. They are perfect for the bass.

I had sent the bass back to lakland in Chicago for a slight adjustment and their first response was what strings did you put on the bass it sounds great.

I highly recommend the Hb30 with those strings although when my custom comes I may be looking to get rid of it.

I also notice a difference in the sound with the pickguard removed and currently play it that way.

Please tell me how that goes! That is pretty much the exact spec I would go for on a Lakland fretless...kind of like a Rob Allen Mouse 5. I am so in love with a high C on my fretted bass, I need a fretless for sure!

I started out with the 55-01, cut the bass and boosted the mids. That took care of the boomyness pretty well. The 2nd and 3rd sets I used the 55-02, and didn't have to adjust anything at all. Went back to the 55-01 for the 4th because I just love both of them so much, that I didn't want it to get jealous. ;) That goes to show the difference in the two basses, they both have the Bart NTMB, but the 55-01 just has such massive low-end that it has to be tamed at times. Its very aggressive. The 55-02 is aggressive too, more its a bit more polite.

It was also my first night using a gramma, not sure if it was the cause or not. Next time we play this room I'm going to leave it at home to see if it was the culprit.

That's what I thought. It was the only thing different in my setup and I've played this room on at least 15 different occasions.

My amp EQ settings didn't change. I use the bass EQ flat so that I can boost or cut as needed.

I'm pretty sure I was using the gramma correctly, I mean, I stood on it all night...;)
