Low Down Sound Cab Club started!

P.Aaron, you don't need a picture, you just have to be a Low Down Sound cab fan, so this makes you number 17!

A pic would be nice. Though every time I see another cab, I start wishing I'd got that version! :D

One of the Eminencec DeltaliteII2512's in my 2x12+2x6 was dead today when I plugged in. Pulled it, tested it...yep; dead.
Don/t recall having done anything that woulda kilt it.
Called Don, he said he's only had one other fail in all his 12" neo cabs...he's ordering me a new one Monday.

How efficient are the 8's? I have a TFB-420 and would want something fairly efficient. Also have my first 5-stringer being crafted and want something that can go low. I like the 15+6 designs being discussed and the 3015LF is pretty efficient. So something like the 12+4x8 cab looks very cool. Do the 8's give you a decent range on the high end? I'm envisioning 2 cabs now, a 1x15 and a 4x8.

(sorry for the rambling confused question)

Not to in any way take away from Don's work--he's awesome--but I was on a quest for efficiency and low frequencies that led me to the EV TV1152: Invalid Link Removed
I would be inclined to get an LDS for a cab where "good tone in a custom form factor" would be more important than "efficiency in the lows".

This is my current set up. I talked to Don at LDS Sound and told him this cab does not even have a serial number on it.

It still sounds good. The Hartke (HA4000) could use some 5-hour energy...I think.

The long throw 8's are middle of the road:
neither power hungry, nor efficient.
Also, be warned: they're heavy.
My 4x8 is dang close to the heaviest cab I own, next to my SWR Henry 8x8.

Oh yeah...and "how low will they go" is not really a speaker related question. It's more of a "how is the cab tuned" question.

Yes, the driver plays into it, and you'll never get to 40hz with a 6" mid driver; ymmv etc.
My 4x8 is deeper by nature than my Mesa Diesel TL606 based 115.

Thanks for the info. I should contact Don and explain what I'm looking for and let him advise. The custom route does make it more fun.

I was suppose to be trying the new cab out at a show tonight, alas the show was cancelled due to another band booking the venue:bawl: It must be nice to be Green Day. That's right.... we were bumped by Green Day. Apparently they are playing their new album to a small audience at the DNA Lounge in SF. I quess it's better than being bumped by some no name hacks :)

At least you can say you have LDS cabs and Dirnt don't...
