Mayones Hadrien Feraud Signature

Hiromi is amazing, as is Simon Phillips. In addition to her virtuosity, she has a musical passion and joy that is rare in any genre. Goosebumps. Thanks for posting, I didn't know they were in town. I just bought a ticket for tonight's show.

I wish I had seen Simon with Beck. I loved his playing on There and Back.

my buddy SanDiegoHarry was with us last night for the show, and the two of us were also at the 1980 show in San Diego. We had literally front and center tickets at the outdoor amphitheater. There was this huge kit and I saw this young scraggly kid walking across the stage. I thought he was a roadie. Then he climbs up behind the kit. The live version of Space Boogie was mind boggling, and The Pump is one of my all-time favorite Beck tunes. After seeing him I wanted to burn my guitar - he had total mastery of the instrument.

Dude, that's Simon Phillips. He can play as much kit as he wants! He's earned it.

You know you have arrived when you can Endorse competitors and it's alright with them. Take a look at the Tecamp and Eich Sites. Andrew and Gary are on both sites. The thing is to not have an Exclusivity Clause and you're Golden. I say don't hate The Playa, hate the Game. I don't blame anyone. Players are trying to get paid and Vendors are too. :-)

Yes overgifted and Malaman is Italian as I do but I barely can stand him ... why the hell he always smile when he plays unnecesserily complicated parts over very well renown music which doesn't need too many embellishments ??? He's surely somebody who prides himself for the repeated bop-like 16th notes quadruplets that he puts in the mix at each new phrase ... for me is too much ... look at how Feraud looks at him at the beginning of the video ... seems like somebody asking to himself "what the hell this guy wil be doing next?? There's no need to inflate the tune but ...."...
Bah...
By the way, nice bass, but I personally prefer the simplicity of a true Fender jazz bass ...

You are talking about the difference between someone who became famous on YouTube playing covers (Malaman) and someone who became famous playing under legendary musicians in clubs and in the studio (Feraud.)

When you are playing with John McLaughlin and Chic Corea, your playing had better not be fluff.

Yeah, just shedding for months and then walking into a jam with players was an eye opener for me. I was a chops machine when I was warming up. Nobody really said anything, but I knew immediately that I had to tone it down once the jam started.

Mayones makes sick basses. Honestly that yellow Deuce caught my eye more than anything. That's a $500 bass that looks very quality to me. For anyone wondering, the signature is around $3,500.

I think Frederico is a great player, way better than most of us, but he does seem to have become known just for videos on YouTube. He should try to get on some tours. Not knocking him, for all I know he could be very active as a sideman/bandleader in Italy for all I know, but it would help his career a lot if he got a little more and varied exposure.

Enjoy the show. It's the 5th time I've seen the trio and every time is a collection of moments to be treasured. Very rare to see, hear, and feel that level of musicianship and music on display in an intimate setting. My wife (who is an artist) used to joke that she was jealous of Hiromi as I'd driven 750 miles to see the trio the first time (taking my son with me), then brought her along to see her twice in SF. After the show last night, she said that I maybe should be jealous of *her* feelings about Hiromi. She really is one-of-a-kind - Hiromi and my wife :D

I love the smiling, too me he looks like he's having fun and he's not the least big pretensious about it. I've never met him, Hayden is a monster player no doubt, neither one is my thing. I'm more into to studio guys who play great bass lines with great feel. But there is no doubt both of them are at the top of their game.

As far as J Basses there are two kinds of boutique J basses from what I've seen. Basses like Sadowsky, Alleva Copella, and Lakland which are exquisitly built and cop a tone that is definitly in the Fender Jazz family. Then there are basses like the Fodera NYC, Skjold Lions Pride, the Low End J basses I've played which cop a Jazz feel, and exceptionally crafted but whose tone is closer to a modern bass than a J Bass. Which family would you put the Mayones in? I've played one of their other basses in a 5, very nice and certainly a bass that would give MTD and Smith a run for their money.
