Meris Enzo Synth Pedal

Man, just when I thought all my basic questions were answered... so I think I'm gonna just dive in and buy the Micro. But I'm trying to figure this out - will any USB-A to mini-B cable work for connecting my computer? Or do I have to buy DAD's gHost cable specifically? Thanks for your help and patience...
Just a regular USB cable should be fine. Can't remember, but it might even come with one.

Haven't had too much time to fiddle with this but I'm definitely feeling overwhelmed. Part of my problem seems to be familiarizing myself with the Alt controls... one question about that, say I've dialed in a patch but want to change one Alt setting so I press and hold the button - at that point does the Enzo save previous Alt settings and only update the knob I adjust? Just asking because there have been a few times now where I'm happy with a sound, go to change one parameter and have the whole thing gone or replaced by something totally different, as if it re-read the knob position.

Not necessarily going to give up on it yet, I think it's reasonable that there should be a learning curve with such an in-depth tool. But I do see how using MIDI and the editing program would help immensely, that way I can actually see the parameters instead of trying to remember which under-the-hood settings I've changed.

Pressing the alt button saves the current state of all parameters. It is one of the things I think is a bit of an annoya
That looks great thanks!

How many presets can be stored on the Enzo without any external switching gear?

It’s 16 hardware presets. If you’re just sending SysEx messages to change the parameters from a PC then practically unlimited.

The answer is one. You need external switching gear to change to a different save location.

Oh wow, so I wasn't mistaken about the alt settings changing each time I hold it down? Makes me more excited to get the Micro then... might spend a lot of time plugging it in and out but that seems worthwhile.

When you press the alt button, none of the settings change, however they do save if you hold it for 2 seconds. Now if you press the alt and hold it, then turn one knob, that setting will first "snap" to the knob location if different, then adjust to where you release the alt knob. If you happen to move a second knob, or move another knob after you release alt you will have a setting change.

Micro is here but I'm having a bit of trouble pairing it with the Enzo and my computer... pretty sure I've set everything correctly, expression mode to MIDI, MIDI out, the correct channel, but the app isn't receiving MIDI info. So for example I see "Preset 1 selected" but not "Preset 1 settings received" - any thoughts on how to fix this?

Totally a problem the the Micro settings, I'll see if I can sort it out.

EDIT - About out of time to fiddle tonight but I made some headway - I got most of the way there but something is missing. I can get the editor to read the pedal's presets, can move the knobs on the editor to change settings on the pedal but editor doesn't update when I move the Enzo's knobs. I assume it is supposed to with the correct settings?

Either way, I'm starting to feel better about controlling this thing. Just gonna need some more time to get it all set correctly.

Second day of trying but still no luck getting the pedal fully connected to the editing program. Not sure what I'm missing... I found a post on TheGearPage with instructions for getting things set up but they aren't getting me anywhere. Right now I can change my sounds via the editor but the Micro isn't saving new patches and turning the Enzo knobs still isn't reflecting in the program. More work!

EDIT - In case somebody has a suggestion for what's wrong, here are my current settings.

Enzo - Expression set to MIDI, channel 1, MIDI THRU (although the steps I read say this doesn't matter)

Micro - Chanel 1, DevA to GMID, DIP switches to ON-OFF-ON, JACK to MID3, USB to MIDI.

I'm probably missing something simple?

These are my suggestions, as I said I don't have this controller. From the Micro Manual:
MID3: The MultiJack will send MIDI on the jack tip and receive MIDI on the jack ring. Used for certain special cases. Set the DIP switches to ON-ON-ON.

set USB = MIDI in the DMC setup menu. Restart the controller and connect it to your device. You should see a MIDI interface called “Disaster MIDI” in your application’s list of available devices

InCh set this to a number different from the Enzo.

You could also try changing the device from OTTO to GMID. I'm a little concerned that the description says, "Used for certain special cases." If these options don't work, you may to contact DisasterArea support and see what they say.

Awesome, I'll try this tomorrow - I have gone between OTTO and GMID but was most recently on OTTO because of instructions I'd found. InCh is currently set to the same number as Enzo so I'll change that - should it also be different from the channel on the editor? And I had the DIPs set to ON-OFF-ON from that previous suggested settings post, will try going back to all on.

Will update tomorrow. Thanks!

The editor and the Enzo should always be on the same channel. If you make the Enzo device A in the DMC-Micro set the Enzo to MIDI CH1, and the Editor to MIDI CH 1.
I'd suggest setting InCH to 16.

if InCH and the channel the Enzo are on are the same - they will talk over each other.
Good Luck!

Okay, I'll have to look at it tomorrow BUT I know that in my most recent attempt I did set InCH to 1 to match the Enzo and editor - thanks again for the help, y'all, I'm excited to dig back in.

Side question - I noticed that there is a ton of dirty noise from the Micro when it is being powered solely by laptop. Plugging in the 9v power supply helps reduce this but it's still there quietly. Using the Micro disconnected from the laptop produces no background noise. Does this sound normal?

My guess is the micro is picking up RF noise generated from the laptops switching power supply. You could try a USB cable with a ferrite choke, or buy some chokes to go around your existing USB cable. My guess is the DC power supply is providing a more robust ground and reducing the noise injected into the audio path.
