Misconstrued Lyrics!

<<< used to always sing that old RP song that way even though I knew it was wrong just cuz it sounded better.

I used to argue with my best friend in HS about the WHo's My wife
He said the line was "thinks Ive been with the number one" I said it was "thinks I've been with another woman"

MY wife just reminded me of a time I was listeneing to the radio and this guy on a morning show misconstrued the old Grand Funk song lyric "I'm getting closer to my home" to say "closer ot my hole" and started talking about Wood's Hole WV or something everyone else in the radio station just bursted into laughter realizing his error.

Once I was listening to SRV's "Wall of Denial," and one of the lines was "Cat got yer turtle ..." So I got to thinking how cool that was, because it was, like, blues for little kids. You know, the kid goes to the fair and wins one of those little salmonella-ridden turtles at the dime toss. He brings it home, puts it in a little glass bowl, and goes to sleep happier than a clam, only to wake up the next morning to see its mutilated, dried-out, little corpse lying on his bedroom floor. There's the cat, three feet away, washing his chops with his paw and looking proud. You know how cats are.

So here are some blues that kids can really appreciate. Only it's "Can't catch a turtle in this rat race."

IIRC that line is from "Crossfire" not "Wall of Denial".

Cute Without The "E"(Cut From The Team) by Taking Back Sunday starts with the line

"Your lipstick, his collar...don't bother trying to explain angel, I know exactly what goes on"

one of my coworkers swears that he heard:

"Your lipstick is cold, I won't bother you again Angie. You'll know exactly what went wrong"

That Mister Mister song always got a few people...had a guy ask me if the chorus was 'Carry a raisin...down the road that I must travel.'

hehe

funny ones I picked up on a website:

1. Losing My Religion: Let's pee in the corner, Let's pee in the spotlight.

2. Blinded By the Light: Wrapped up like a douche Another rumour in the night

3. Bohemian Rhapsody: The algebra has a devil for a sidekick eeeeeeeeee....

A friend of mine got a book for her birthday about 10yrs ago. I wanna say the title was simething like 100 Most Misunderstood Lyrics, or something like that. It was hilarious to read because the writer also had cartoon drawings of characters experienceing the storyline.

"don't eat the refer" (real lyric: don't fear the reaper -Blue Oyster Cult)
"jeremy smoked some grass today" (real lyric: Jeremy spoke in class today -Pearl Jam)
"s'cuze me while I kiss this guy" (real lyric: s'cuze me while I kiss the sky - Jimi Hendrix)

really? it's not "s'cuze me while I kiss this guy?" awww, man! I was totally wrong!!!

David Bowie's "Space oddity" - Clown patrol to Mao Tse Tung

that gave me a good lol :D

anyhoo, my own story: (or my brothers actually)
my brother is a music and english teacher at a local elementary school here, and at some point they had this thing where students where to play a song they'd learned to the teachers, so the teachers could see some progress or whatever.

so, this guy steps in (9th grader or something like that) and they ask what song he's gonna play.
guy: I'm gonna play "lalalajkit"
my brother: :eyebrow: lala what now?
guy: well, it's a pretty well known rock song, I forgot which artist though,
brother: ok, play it, and we'll hear.

then he proceeds to play rockin all over the world, by status quo "And I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it, I lalalalajk it, lalalala, here we gooo OOO rockin' all over the world :bassist:

hell yeah:D
