the spalted one is calling me. don't know about that price point tho. any mobsters in the l.a. area get a chance to play it?
anyone out there with the turbo option on their current modulus? kinda wondering on the tonal shift between a modulus with the turbo option and the regular two-pickup layout. i'm assuming more 'sharpness' and 'bark' with the bridge pickup sitting almost flush with the bridge.
Those pups are really close together . My Q5's are further apart , I have the same knob layout , with Bartolini's .

I was going to, given it has a satin neck and is a 4 string, but I really need to thin the herd right now, sigh...
If I hadn't just moved states I would have someone check it out for me and ship it! Still havent ruled that out.....

I'm technically back in the club, I bought a fretless Q5 which I plan to have turned in a fretted one.
The "luthier" told me there were no problems. After buying it and shipping it to the luthier, he mailed me telling there can be fretboard issues converting it to fretted.
Fretboard can break during the process, and that he can eventually replace it with A WOODEN ONE.
I told no way. I want phenolic.
Does anyone know where I could buy a phenolic replacement fingerboard should anything go wrong with the fretting work ?

Jerry Dorsch at Guitar Works, possibly... He may even be the right guy to destroy, oops, I mean convert your fretless to fretted.. Or better yet, find someone looking for a Q5 fretless trade for a fretted and then you would be golden!!
spoke to geoff gould on this subject not too long ago.
if some of you remember, there was a damaged neck from a vj4 being sold here where the fingerboard on the back end was damaged and replaced with epoxy or whatever.
he said the fingerboard could be fixed or replaced but would definitely cost a pretty penny.
i concur with iriegnome. see if someone is looking to swap their q5 fretted neck for a fretless.

Depending on how quickly you really need or want it, I would love a Q5 fretless and I would consider trading my 6 string fretted for it..
I checked it out, got an itchy trigger finger, but backed off. He would pay shipping and Paypal fees
for a $1100 bass, sometimes if it is too good to be true, it isn't. Might be OK for someone though if
you really make sure (ie., is it hot, why is it getting sold below market value). Still looking for that right Q4
Hmmm... could be a number of things to motivate someone to sell/offload at a below market price, but as you implied sometimes better to be safe than sorry.
I responded to an ad in LA a while back with a Q5 for $1650. Told they guy I would meet him the next day with the cash ..... Never called me back , except to say he had band practice and couldn't meet me , but promised to call me later ..... I'm still waiting for him to call !!! He either sold it ,never had it in the first place or got scared that he really didn't want to try to rob someone ! Never answered a text or call from me again .
