Moral dilemma...

Oh yeah,...there are a ton of fat cats we can look to for examples of real greed,...scumminess and thievery,....(yes I'm looking directly at you Wall Street/Banks and associated ilk). These are the people that should be scrutinized,...not IM (yes yes I know he paid for his item).

It's great that you've worked for a few companies (you are unique among us!), even though it leaves you feeling wronged and in need of vengeance.

My advice to the OP still stands. Be honest; do what's right.

Not exactly that, but I'm sure they can afford a $250 loss, I once remember someone being offered $32000 for just a signature in business, it wouldn't have been legal though ; )

I wouldn't go crediting business with more honesty than it's got, maybe you should ask the Banks, they seem to have no problem re-distributing wealth, as long as it isn't theirs. Anyways we are talking about a $250 toilet here, I wouldn't judge someone either way on something, like that.

I suppose I shouldn't get 90% or above in a class where 60% is the average, lest I eff up the grading curve causing more people to fail and one of them to possibly be kicked out of school for failing to meet the schools academic standards :rolleyes:?


I can come up with more ridiculous examples if you want. I don't deny the existence of "the ripple effect" but damn near every action we take can end up negatively affecting someone down the line. If we always worried about it we wouldn't get anywhere in life.

Thing is in that example you're not doing anything "immoral" or rather "illegal".

At risk of making this off topic thread bass relevant. I was undercharged about $400 on my first NYC Sadowsky. Obviously I informed them and paid the extra amount. Couldn't have a nice bass bathed in bad karma :). Got some swag and strings for my honesty. Win win.

A similar thing happened to me at a local big box retailer. I went back and paid. I couldn't care less about the managers opinion because I am the one who has to be able to look in the mirror and KNOW my kids have a good man for a daddy. All other factors are irrelevant when there is a clear cut right/wrong situation.

Good on you for going back, it was the right thing to do.
