Most "embarrassing" song.....

That was t for a gig/band or w/e, but for no valid reason other thanthan the one in your head, what's the song you probably don't want to admit you learned.
Most recent the better! (c'mom it'll help me feel better about all the junk I'm playing due to where I am, that I HATE, but is helping this or that, and then some that are just downright silly cause I am downright silly)
Sorry, but this one’s old. “It’s to Late to Turn Back Now” in my first band. Guitar player made us play it for his girlfriend. HATED IT!

Played for a brief while in early ‘91 in a country cover band; guitar, bass, drums, and pedal steel, backing up a diminutive little hack singer BL with Napoleon Syndrome and a ten-gallon hat he could’ve bathed in. Remember the joke about how you know when a singer’s knocking on your door? He can’t find the key and doesn’t know when to come in.

That whole set list was embarrassing. Standout cringeworthy moments were Kentucky Headhunters’ “Dumas Walker” and “Walk Softly on This Heart of Mine,” and Hank Jr’s “Born To Boogie.” I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me.

Oh, you want a song I learned for myself? Okay. How about Kiss’ “I Was Made for Loving You?” Do I win the kewpie doll?

I play in a mostly classic rock band, and when someone wants to hear country, the lead singer & guitarist breaks out his re-written version of Amarillo by Morning called "Armadillos In Mourning"

Armadillos in Mourning
Their dad lies dead in the road
The truck came without warning
It was carrying a heavy load
There was a big ker-splat, now he's lying flat
As any pancakes I've had
Armadillos in mourning, mourning for their dead dad.

There's more, but that's plenty for now. Imagine playing your George Straight backup band best, and someone singing that. And I have to do harmonies....

Top that for embarrassing....

Lovefool by The Cardigans. It's that, "love me, love me", song from the mid- or late-1990's. It was one of the songs I had to learn when I did some pick ups for a local cover band several years ago. Playing that song felt almost insulting to my manhood.

I prefer watching the video along with it...Nina floors me with how gorgeous she was back then

If you were doing this for art, you probably wouldn't be in a wedding band. So, that means you are likely doing it for money.
Can you imagine if you asked a plumber to hook up a garbage disposal to your kitchen sink and he refused to do it because it violated is artistic integrity?

He may do so actually. If you're on a septic system, it would be foolish to do so and any plumber worth his salt will refuse to do it. Which is kinda the same thing.
Makes ME lose MY manhood.
And I'm a woman!
I was the right demographic I for it, LOATHED that song think
That song came out after the magic age at which they stopped making good music, and I can see how it would be annoying if you heard it at the peak of its popularity when they run any song into the ground. But for some strange reason, it really resonated with me when i heard it (being in a still sucks abusive relationship probably, but now I got a kid to protect from said emotional abuse. )

ironically, I heard Lovefool the other day, and couldnt remember the name of the band. All I could think of was "The sweaters" which i knew was far too stupid to be a band name but thats all i could think of.

Forget you all. I played in a polka band, Annie and the Playboys, and played 5 days per week for 4 months. Any song would qualify. By the way, I made the most money I ever made in a band. Paid for most of my college.
Cool. Did you play 'Too Fat Polka'? If so, my condolences.

Speaking of Polka bands, I once got a call to sub for the regular bass player in one. I show up, they give me lederhosen (yeah leather shorts with straps) to wear. No charts or anything, I fake the whole night on a bunch of really bad wierd tunes. Honestly the loudest gig I have ever played, and I've played some loud ones. The band leader, a German, immorally pushed beer sales on the kids. Constantly played drinking songs. I think he had some kind of $ partnership in the German Hall we played.

The drummer was awesome though and also, ahem, played pretty good trumpet solos while banging away. Paid good, as bad gigs often do.

I was in a corperate/wedding band for long time...lots of bad songs, including; Arthur’s Theme(Best That You Could Do), Lady In Red(done as Lady in White), YMCA, Dancing Queen.....the list goes on and on and on.
The most embarrassing songs were the ones that we just couldn’t do justice to. Usually this was either due to instrumentation/production stuff or the inability to render a convincing vocal performance. Rolling out the garbage night after night can crush your soul. Playing any song poorly is way worse than playing crappy songs decently, IMO.
