Yes, it reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode. Or that Herbie Hancock video for Rockit. Either way, creepy!

How many times have you read on TB that ANY bass can be used in ANY setting. Well I'm here to say, I don't think so.
So how about it TBers - name the genre or venue and post a pic of a totally inappropriate bass for that setting. It might be based on looks or shape or graphics or sound or whatever - be creative!
I'll start with a Praise and Worship setting.
I think this might cause a bit of a problem...

Spector Alex Webster Blood Splatter bass.
That might be a stretch considering the Blood Splatter bass is an artist bass built by Spector for Alex Webster who the bass player for the Death Metal band Cannibal Corpse. You can look up Cannibal Corpse songs on Wiki - they're not exactly family friendly and I doubt many places of worship would be featuring their music or anything to do with them. What if it's the blood of Christ?

I don't care who ya are, now that right there is funny!
I've seen those heavily discounted to the point where it's almost tempting to pick one up and refinish it. All that said, I think its a really cool looking bass and I've considered buying one on several occasions, just not sure where I can play it without offending someone. My bass playing is offensive enough, the last thing I need to do is top it off with a controversial bass....

I'll give you the Flying V - that would start a riot! But the UBass actually does VERY good in a bluegrass setting. This is the hollow body but it doesn't sound much different than the solid body and probably wouldn't look any more goofy than the bass Ukelele...Either a solid body Ubass (which is funny, because the sound would work well), or a flying V.
Actually you can buy them without the blood splatter graphic but they still retain the cool red fret markers and Spector logo. Now that's a bass you can rock just about anywhere!I've seen those heavily discounted to the point where it's almost tempting to pick one up and refinish it. Thats a cool looking bass! Actually I think it would look great in a praise setting. Just don't tell people its called a destroyer bass.Believe it or not, I use a red Ibanez Destroyer bass for Christian praise and worship.View attachment 638197
...just call it an Angel Wing bass!![]()

Agree, DB would be expected, UBass would catch many off guard.Twas my point. The sound is perfect. But compared to a double bass, something would be, visually... uh...
