Most inappropriate bass...

Because Michael Anthony is on everyone's mind.

Chickenfoot gets booked to play an event sponsored by Alcoholics Anonymous.

How many times have you read on TB that ANY bass can be used in ANY setting. Well I'm here to say, I don't think so.

So how about it TBers - name the genre or venue and post a pic of a totally inappropriate bass for that setting. It might be based on looks or shape or graphics or sound or whatever - be creative!

I'll start with a Praise and Worship setting.
I think this might cause a bit of a problem...

Spector Alex Webster Blood Splatter bass.
This would be fine for Praise and Worship. I think.
Just think of the bloody history the church is looking back on.

And...as long as you don't see the bass all should be well anyways.

I used this bass on a 9-week run of the truly awful stage musical "The Phantom of the Opry" in late 1991, which is supposed to take place in Nashville in the 1930s, and featured the orchestra on stage complete with jeans and bolo ties:

The theater went out of business before the end of the run, although I and my bass disavow any responsibility for that.
Why? It was all your fault.

What makes it weird for me isn't the cosplay, since I do a number of conventions every year. What is weird is that it looks an awful lot like a cosplayer friend of mine who moved down to Texas many years ago.

Sooooo @mapleglo, is this you or someone you know? If not, did you just happen across it on the web? :eyebrow:

That's me, getting ready for this year's Phoenix Comicon.

If the bass makes bass noises and the band needs bass noises, I don't see the issue.

I think the idea that you can't use certain basses for certain music is just more TB BS thought up by people that should spend more time practicing and less time thinking up rules. In the 70's I had one bass - a Rickenbacker 4001. I used it for Top 40/Disco, blues, rock, metal, traditional jazz and everything else I was playing. I never even thought about it and no one ever raised an eyebrow when I showed up with it.

That was my experience as well, also with a Jetglo 4001 back in the 70's. The only time an eyebrow was raised was when I was jamming with a jazz band and the drummer was bent all out of shape because I was playing with a pick.
