My #1 hasn't been built yet. It's a navy blue, flame maple MTD 535-24 with a figured ebony fingerboard. It's going to be amazing!! Should be here sometime in the next couple of months.

In the meantime, this is the one I play the most.

And this one is my favorite to play.

I wanted a very crystal blue ocean look to it I’m so happy with how it came out! The onboard Neve/Dingwall preamp is next level too

They are my own work. After owning a Fender 5 string Precision I discovered that the wide string spacing and wide neck wasn’t what I wanted. I decided to make my own. Both are passive with Fijian mahogany bodies, hipshot hardware and Nordstrand pickups. The MM5.2 pickup now has a series/parallel switch installed.
The one with the Big Split pickup has an Allparts neck. It was my first build and took a long time. I had never done anything like that before and I was pretty nervous about getting it right so I watched lots of Youtube videos to learn what to do and what not to do.
The one with the MM5.2 pickup has a cheap Chinese neck that was unusable when it arrived. The heel was not flat so I took it to the local Mens Shed in our village. They have a bench planer and we were able to get it flat. It’s a great neck to play.

built this several months ago....it's heavy over 9lbs...jazz neck i had since the early 80's, plays like butter, but the most noticeable thing is the sound of the MM pickup, first time using one in a build...such clarity and attack, strung with medium flats...it's one thumpy beast!

My current #1 is a Maruszczyk Frog. I got it because it looks cool. I have several features on it that make it unique even among other Maruszczyk Frogs, the most visible being the extra finger room on the lower bout that gives it a bit of a can opener look. I tried to replicate the neck of a Rickenbacker 4001 that was stolen from me decades ago -- I don't know how close I got to the Ric neck, but I absolutely love the result. 40mm nut, 20mm deep at the 1st fret, 18mm bridge spacing. Two Delano pickups and Maruszczyk's own 3 band preamp with passive option. It looks great, sounds great, and feels great.

I know I've said this a few times about other basses in this thread already. Maybe more than a few times. But the Frog really intrigues me, especially the headless version. And Maruszczyk's look like some of the best bang-for-the-bigger-buck basses out there, especially given the amount of customization you can do.

I'm not asking because I play my Ibanez SR206 the most ($200, now $350 new at SW). But, I got another 6 yesterday, and it may replace it - details at 11.

When I'm away from home for more than a couple of weeks, which is fairly often- the one in the middle for fretless and the one to it's right for fretted-

I love the white XT25 and would like one myself, but I've only ever found black and rarely some blue or other figured top.

My number one bass is a 2008 G&L L1500, the one in my avatar. I bought it a few years ago from Sam Ash and the 1500s have a reputation of being very mid forward and having big treble sizzle. I found a couple of mods where you install 2 missing capacitors to lower the resonant bass frequency of the MFD pickup and change a resistor in the preamp to tame the treble sizzle. It still cuts through like nobody’s business, but it’s so much warmer now; great bottom end.

It meets all my tonal needs, and it feels like putting on a baseball glove that you've broken in, to just right.

Played every gig, rehearsal, jam etc with this since I got it. Use a Lakland DJ4 as a backup for 1/2 step tuning in our set but most of the time I’ll tune this down on stage

Since early 1990, this '82 Buzz JB Special has been my most played instrument, and there are definitely a few scars on it to remember those gigs and sessions by.

This fretted P-Bass has seen at least as much play time as the Pedulla during the past year or so.
