My "parts bass"... a 2015 Custom Shop '59 body with 2018 AVRI replacement neck.
I've taken the covers and mute off a few times but always end up putting them back on within a day. I've got Chromes 105-50 on it - same as the Floor Traveler - something else I've always returned to. The sound and playability of this bass is exceptional! Weight is just under 8.5 lbs. Super-resonant!

My SBMM Ray5. It just works. Volume, bass and treble. One pickup that punches through a mix while also supporting the band. It’s so good. It’s about to get some D’Addario XL rounds 50-160 ADGCF. Can’t wait!!

It's horrible, no doubt the headstock will fly and hurt someone the next time I play it, it's dull, heavy, has a neck like a log. Oh, and I paid way too much for it.

It's a toss up, and very soon I'll have to decide on which one to keep, since bass is no longer my principal instrument and probably never will be again:

The one on the left was a gift from a luthier friend, the one on the right was a custom build from another luthier friend which my wife paid the deposit on as a birthday gift, and my boss gave me an unexpected bonus a few days before it shipped that covered the balance. Both sound and play equally great, weigh within a few ounces of the same, and have custom pickups and electronics, so it's essentially a coin flip.

Tentatively, my 3 week old Spector NS Dimension. She passes muster woodshedding and at rehearsal. Untested with the live rig yet. Prior to this, believe it or not, had been rocking a Sire M7. That thing kills for the $ spent.

I'm not asking because I play my Ibanez SR206 the most ($200, now $350 new at SW). But, I got another 6 yesterday, and it may replace it - details at 11.



I love the white XT25 and would like one myself, but I've only ever found black and rarely some blue or other figured top.

Matches the 6 nicely.

I’ll bear that in mind should I decide to sell it- mind you I’ve upgraded the pickups to more appropriately sized EMG 35 active pickups (JX neck and 35 DC at the bridge). A luthier routed it to accommodate them.

One advantage is that if you ever decided to try another set of active EMG’s they’re simple plug and play with quick connectors. In this I considered the 35 P5’s since that reverse P split coil format sounds awesome in the other 2.
