My Dream Combo... Finally!

I'm sorry I know this thread is a little old and I dont want to beat a dead horse but... I went through two GK MB212's and am now considering a Carvin BR515N. I came across this thread and it sparked my interest. Did you supply all the parts and have the guy supply the cabinet? How did that situation work?

I just gave Don a call and told him what I wanted. Then I did some sketches, scanned them, and emailed them to him. He started on a design (based on my sketches), and called me several times during the process. After a few weeks, I had my cab and and a big smile on my face. :D

In the interim, I talked to Carvin, told them what I was doing, and asked about the Bx500. They liked the idea, so... I ordered that a week or two after Don started on the cab. They both showed up the same week.

Actually... it's "I love it when a plan comes together"... but close enuff. ;)

I thought I recalled the "falls" comment from an episode, but I may very well be mistaken. I think I was like 9 years old at the time. :D "Comes together" sounds right, though, too.

I was very impressed with the combo that the OP put together here so called Don this AM and put in an order. It will be a vertical stacked 2x10 NEO with the same 2 space rack and handles as pictured.

I have been wanting a down sized rig and this fits the bill perfect.

Kudos to the OP. Excellent design!

Nice. :D
Did you go with a 5" or a 6"? I thought about doing that too... but in the end I just decided to go with the old standby of a selenium tweeter. Is yours loaded with the Legend 10s as well? I can't say enough good things about this cab. You'll love it!!!

anyone know about his build times as of late? I put in an order for a cab on April 1st, and he hasn't even started thinking about the wiring, let alone began construction. I am definitely anxious and excited to get the cab cause I know it's a good product, but it's kind of frustrating knowing 3 months and 8 days have gone by without anything being done to it yet when I got an original estimate of 6-8 weeks. just curious if anyone knows anything about his build times lately. I saw this thread was over a year old, and he was probably a little less busy then.

I just now read this thread, and I just ordered the same thing from Don at Low Down Sounds. I'm not sure how long it may take to get it from him as he is a ONE person business. He does such a great job and pays wonderful attention to detail, I know it's worth the wait.

He did mention about a 2-3 month turn around time, but I know how that sometimes goes. He's a nice dude, so I'm sure he'll answer any questions about the turn around time if you give him a call.

Maybe it'll be here by Christmas, but until then, I'll continue to play my BX500 thru custom built cab I made.

Oh, mines a 99% clone too, lol! I added a custom name plate for the front grill.

Don charges $459.00 + around $30 for shipping for this exact cab, which is way worth it. These speakers are 200 watts each and get down to about 40 Hz. They move a lot and can handle the lows very well.

He only charges half up front as a dep then the other half at delivery!

The BX500 from Carvin is on special for $399.00!

So 850 ish is awesome for this combo, no doubt!
