Well you did post it on one of the most outspoken forums around. If it bothers you, then by all means have a talk with her. If you guys are serious, and you're serious about her, you should be able to talk to her about it.

She took you to the woodshed in public for playing an instrument you love. Friend, ain't no point you can prove that she wants to understand.
You're here explaining to us why you keep this trick in your life. That says to me maybe the two of you are compatible after all.
Ever considered playing guitar? I bet she'd like you more...

I'm shocked that most of the talkbass guys would overreact by dumping her. Clearly there is a better answer. Put it in her stink hole without any lube. Where's the grudge at guys? C'mon. You gotta use that as aggression fuel.
Tell her about your feelings. If she loves you she will get it. Then have her sit in while you are running scales. Talk to her about the construction of the bass, how all the woods and electronics interact with each other to create amazing notes. Then introduce her to some of your influences. Take her to see some other bands and let her see how good you really are by comparison. The let her discover how big a turd most guitarists are to the band, the public, and to their girlfriends. In time,
she will get it. The more she knows, understands, and feels included, the more proud she will be of your ablility. If that doesnt work,
NOT FUNNY
...jk. If she loves you she will be curious about all that interests you, even if only fleeting
she laughed at this.
im not bothered by the posts, she is a little more sensitive than i, but i did expected more positive than what was posted.
i was hoping for some debate, instead of it being so one sided.
she prefers me playing bass over guitar anyway.
even though the sound through an amp gives her headaches,
she knows i love it.

I would normally advise the same thing Irish.. but since he "loves" her, I would assume that they have been together long enough for
A: her to understand how much bass means to him
B: how not to be a bitch
get up and move on.
she laughed at this.
If you don't take your own advice you'll prove true what she said. And that's a fact, Jack.
i can prove my point by showing her what i can do behind a bass...
i expected some better posts from you TB.
ok guys, in all seriousness.
her comment did in fact bother me.
i knew she was joking, but it still wasnt very respectful.
but some of the responses here were not what i was expecting.
they were worse than her original comment.
im not going to dump her, or bruise her up, its not worth it.
ill play bass like i always have and show her that im not a "failed guitarist",
or "lacking brain capacity".
i can prove my point by showing her what i can do behind a bass,
not by dumping her or smacking her.
i expected some better posts from you TB.
