I work at a university that has 20K students (give or take) and roughly 5000 employees (faculty & staff). Even the simplest administrative change has unintended ripple effects.

I've been looking for a new amp for a while, and TBH, I don't usually think of Peavey products when I'm shopping, because I think of them as low-end. But after giving it some more thought, the #1 thing I want from an amp is reliability. I can't count how many times I've been in a rehearsal studio or music school and seen a Peavey amp that's 20 years old (or more), has been treated with utter contempt by users who don't own it, and still works. If it's anything like that, this amp will last longer than I'm likely to be alive.

Given the features, what seems to be thoughtful engineering regarding cooling etc, and getting 1000 watts for the price of everyone else's 500 watt amp, I can't think of any reason not to buy it.

I feel like even if you decide it's not for you, the resale on it will be pretty strong this early on.

Also, Peavey has made some really nice products in recent (and even past) years. Our guitarist just picked up the Peavey Delta Blues 15" and it stood up favorably to a stock of much 'nicer' tube amps. I have a good friend who played a Peavey bass for years during the 90's that was and is a great instrument on par with many better production instruments. I also currently am using the newest IPR2DSP amp as part of my setup and have no complaints in fit, finish, sound and reliability. I had the first round of IPRs and they went back to the drawing board and did a great job of taking care of the negatives from the first round.

Crest ProLite 3.0 (owned and produced along with the IPR by peavey)
MiniMega is a happy addition to that list.

Were does the effects loop sit in the signal chain?

Post EQ. The Kosmos bass enhancement stuff is running on a separate parallel signal path with most of the preamp, and it mixes back in right before the loop. The aux in path and master volume are right after the loop.
