NAMM 2007 Pics!!

Does anyone who went to the MTD booth know about those flat black basses? That P/J one is killing me and I would love to own one. Are they going to be Korean made or something? Are they even going to be made at all? Did anyone play one or ask Mike about them?

It sounds like Mike will actually be offering them. I am not sure where they will be made, but he seemed pretty excited about them. Though it sounds like at first it was the genesis of too many late nights spent drawing basses. :D

Those were like the bizaro MTD's. Very unMike-like I thought.

many of you who passed by the bennie/low end booth may have not seen this.
it looked very unassuming from 10 feet but if you turned it over or looked closer
SHA-ZAAM!

yea and ignore the man behind the curtin who looks like he just got off a plane.

"spiderman and the goldbling" I guess I'll call it! ;)

its my new divinty oracle, revamped!!
I am gonna sell my black one because I love this one soooo much!!
and have another few made exactly like this one!
he even inlayed the pup cover on all sides and borderd it with wenge!

I finally got to hear Yves (pronounced like "I've") Carbonne in person; one of the most humble, friendly, talented players I've ever met. His tone and intonation on that big fretless 12-string are absolutely unbelievable!:bassist: And that beast is so lightweight (the bass, not Yves); I'd swear I've played six-bangers that were heavier:

It was also a real pleasure to chat with Jerzy Drozd and Dan Lenard of Luthier's Access Group. Both of these guys really stand behind their instruments, and Jerzy is completely focused on helping me achieve the sound I'm looking for.

I had a chance to play Dan's beautiful Jerzy Barcelona with a flamed redwood top:

And James Hart, if you're still checking this thread; I took a close look at your Bee 7-string. It was getting on closing time, so I didn't have a chance to play it, but it's a fantastic looking instrument, and I was very impressed with Fred's design and craftsmanship. I had no trouble playing his standard body style, sans strap, while sitting. Stew's 8-string chambered zebra Bee is a beauty too!

talk to him!?!....even better, when he saw my first name, he asked me about India (which I haven't been since the late 80's). We proceeded to talk a little bit about India and when he was there last... aint it cool?


Well the treat was hanging around the Nordstrand Booth on Sunday afternoon and he walked over and picked up a beautiful vintage vJ4 and began to play! :eek:
