I really hope there is video of this...

unfortunately, I didn't see anyone with a video camera while they were doing it... Feel free to ask Scott about it, since he's in your neck of the woods. :)

J, I plunked some on your blue Nordy Saturday afternoon. Very nice. Carey did a great job. Great seeing you again. Excellent NAMM pics.

likewise Bud, it was great to see you and chat for a while with you... Look forward to seeing you soon!

You are right, Carey did a fantastic job and he is probably one of the most meticulous builders on the scene these days... I can't say enough about his work.

... I know you would dig that, :smug:

Tom Bowlus,
For years I have hated you (jealousy), but THANK YOU SO MUCH! That picture is nice too--it shows all three and I don't have to go rifling through a bunch of different albums on here to see them.

Bud,
Yes, I agree they are very un-Mike Tobias-like. Especially the two weird shape ones. I reaaaaaaaally dig the pj though and if it comes on the market anytime soon, I will definitely consider buying one. It's not even the shape that I like or the looks (although the shape on that one is nice and I like the very simple look). What really intrigues me is that it is an MTD and although I've never touched an MTD branded bass, I have played quite a few Tobiases and they all played like butter and sounded even better! (except for a trashed Gibson-era one at Guitar Center once...) What intrigues me with these basses is their simplicity and that they are PASSIVE. Don't get me wrong--I like active electronics, but I would never actively (haha) gig a bass with them, mainly because I don't trust myself to change the batteries or bring extras and also because I love plug and play basses; a bass where minimal knob twiddling is necessary.
It's hard to tell on that PJ, but it looks like it has Bartolini pickups; anybody know for sure? Also, what is on the headstock? The MTD logo is up top, but it looks like it says C8 or something on the other part.
Lastly, does anyone know a projected price and/or ETA?
Sorry for the long post.
-Alex

edit: either I'm dumb or I have bad eyesight. It looks to be three letters or numbers on the headstock. S??
Looking again, I would probably never touch the front two in Tom's picture, but that p/j in the back has been stuck in my head since friday or whenever I first saw it.

I'm digging the p/j too. I actually started a separate thread about it and was told that Tobias has just sent the prototypes in to start up production overseas (which means lower cost) so it will probably still be a while till they are on the shelves. From the pics I've seen they have Bart pickups and what looks like hipshot hardware.

Here's the raw uploads, I'll post comments on a few later.

There's also the video of Tal and Marcus closing the show down on Saturday. :)
