Why is EADG the standard tuning for bass and not BEAD?

Because the EADG Lobby of American Bassists pays millions of dollars in casino trips and strippers to legislators so that EADG remains the standard tuning. It's part of the hidden conspiracy.

The bass guitar or double bass covers two octaves from low E to high E (roughly). That is the tessitura of the basso profundo. But not at A4= 440/443Hz pitch but A4 431/435Hz. Going higher than A4=435Hz with 12-Tet the vocal passaggio is shifted too high.

In terms of musical usability, C or Bb makes as much, if not more, sense than B as a lowest note if you're playing in horn or vocalist keys.

Bead? My bass weighs over 4kg, string (pun int) a few BEADy basses together wear tiedyed t shirts, a few flowers in our hair, and I'm back in the sixties, after a couple hours of this, I ready to return to a eadg bass life. That's why my bass is eadg.

A decade ago, I was playing a large church with sports stadium type speaker cabinets strung from the ceiling and the sound engineer would freak out if a played a low B due to the rumble it would make. I almost never used the B string below D. My Warwick Thumb was too heavy handed on the B in that place. The Cirrus 6 String battery eater was just right, played high up the neck.

BTW, I always suspected the big name country session artists in Nashville moonlighted on the Contemporary Christian recordings.

Something like that. I started listening to Mike Brignardello on his work with Travis Tritt in the early 90s. Later on I picked up Amy Grant's Collection from the early 80s and found he was all over that, along with other CCM of the 80s. And Jimmie Lee Sloas, one of my favorite CCM bassists from the 90s, I found has tons of country recordings since then.
