I've bought, at this point, thousands of guitars and basses. I have no trigger finger when it comes to minor cosmetics. And yes, they are minor cosmetics. And I've seen some serious failures. It's one thing to have an issue with the seller and another for hundreds of people to drag a name through the mud over something minor.
Unless there are two dozen buyers of the bass in this thread threatening to "publicly shame" him, then your question is a strawman. Never once did i say I wouldn't be upset - but to gather the pitchforks...not a chance.
I believe the pitchforks were gathered as a result of the lying and (especially) the lack of cooperation/communication. NOT because of the "minor cosmetic" issue.

How can he (LAG) be defended? He didn't do anything correctly. Even IF it was an honest mistake, he essentially "quit" TB instead of standing up and admitting a mistake and trying to remedy the situation.

I would take care of it between him and I. And I care about the condition of every instrument I buy. Welcome to normal life - when people can't admit their mistakes. Every person in here is guilty of that at some point. Want the WWW to lambast you for it? Doubtful. Once again, this is a minor cosmetic issue.
If it was me, it would be a personal issue. I may open a thread like this discussing about it but I sure as hell would keep the guy's name confidential unless it was a very gross overt situation of 'highway robbery'. Sounds to me like the guy didn't see the issues and/or assumed them to be stock, traded it, and is now hiding because he ain't man enough to admit his mistake - not because he's a crook. Most men and women I've met can't man up and admit their mistakes. On the used market, the Road Worn is generally worth more than the 51' Reissue anyways. And those cosmetic issues would have a small effect on value. If it works well - that's most of the battle.

It may seem a minor cosmetic issue to you, but if I traded a beautiful P bass for a bass that had chisel marks and sharpie on it, I wouldn't clas them as "minor cosmetic flaw". To me "minor cosmetic flaw" was the slight gap between the pickguard and the control plate on a Jazz bass I bought (which cost me atenth of the price of this trade)

Everyone makes mistakes, not wanting to make them right is the thing that separates some from others.
It looks like LAG logged in early to leave negative feedback on OP "Irrational hot-head, buyer beware". Is there a way to have those removed? I would dread leaving legitimate feedback for this very reason. You know you will get negative feedback right back at you.
Thanks, Dustin, and everyone else who has had my back. I notified the mods of this negative feedback. I also notified them a couple days after the trade was made, when it became clear to me that LAG was going to be difficult to deal with.

How the hell can he leave negative feedback on a trade he benefited from? Wow! That's bold! I'm almost sure that's against the rules! Hope the mods step in!
Just for information's sake and no defense intended, michael_atw does do a lot of biz on EvilBay so entirely possible the numbers are not wildly inaccurate.
We shouldn't let this thread tarnish the fact we do so many great transactions here and I personally trust TBers more than other avenues for obtaining gear. Lot's of opinions on how to best handle this, but the Mods have been notified and will do what they can formally. I am hoping for a ray of sunshine for Arizona to get some satisfaction out this, but we may be out of luck on that one. Sorry, man.
