New Carvin P bass, about time?

Yeah after seeing that picture I was sold on the Icon headstock. Looks awesome on that bass! I hope it will look just as good on my PB5.

I called Carvin yesterday and they said it should be finished "any day now". I asked if they billed me for the rush build option and they said yes. However, I looked at my credit card bill & the price break down on my Carvin order and they didn't billed me that extra $100. It's been over 30 days since I placed my order and they haven't even shipped it yet so it kinda works out...if I get the bass next week.

I'm very interested in these too. I have a G&L SB-2 from the mid-90s currently. How do you think a Carvin PJ would compare? I'm kind of thinking I'd rather just go straight P, but I don't know if I would miss the J mixing it up. I also find the bridge HB very tempting, but I don't know as much about that pickup. Then you're rocking 2 HBs, right? How much extra variety would the bridge add?

The only eq is from the bass, which is noted below. I used Cakewalk Sonar X2 Producer to record the clips.

I'm seriously, seriously tempted by ordering a fretless 5 string P. However, I'm hesitant after reading about necks shifting and Carvin improperly crafting a fretless (not differentiating for the lack of frets, causing high action and misplaced side dots). If that's the case, this bass is out for me. Anybody have these troubles with their SB basses?
