It’s just the perfect combination of features for me. Love the HPF, the switchable eq and harmonic distortion, and the metering.

I recently ordered the bass version from my local music instrument store. This explains the delivery delay. Can’t wait for mine to arrive in a week or so.After extensive testing our simple fix of replacing the ribbon cable with a flex PCB does the trick. As of right now the parts are scheduled to be delivered on January 11th so we should be able to ship these out early next week. Sorry to everyone that is waiting for these, I know it is a painful wait.
Agreed. Every time I turn it on I wonder why I don’t have it set to turn on automatically. As a matter of fact, I’m gonna set that right now.

Bass. Highly recommended.Which one have you got, mk2 or bass?
Bass. Highly recommended.
I own a Cali76cb and a LA-1A as well and if I could only use one comp, it’d be the Empress. And that’s saying a lot because I love the other two.
You really can’t go wrong with any of them. They’re all different. All of them, superb at what they do.That is saying a lot- these are the three on my list that I want!

I have the older Empress and still really like it..... I do like the idea of the added features of the new one.
Could you put into words the differences you hear between the three of these? Very interested...Bass. Highly recommended.

It is worth the upgrade IMHO.
Well the Cali76cb I bought from you several years ago so you probably have a good handle on that one. Slightly coloured with a upper mid/top end bump but otherwise fairly transparent. Works great.Could you put into words the differences you hear between the three of these? Very interested...
Wow, impressive. I have a Cali76 again because I haven’t found anything else that brings out the attack of the note quite as well (the main thing I want from a compressor). LA-1A is chok-full of tubey (limiting) amp goodness but doesn’t get mushy/squishy. Awesome tone. Coloured but not to the point of being too fat.
Empress kind of has the best of both worlds. Colour and a hint of harmonics if you want it, fairly transparent if you want that. Very versatile and more usable over a wider range of circumstances. It just brings a depth and body to the notes that you immediately miss when you turn it off. Even more so than the others that also have this quality.
Running the Empress into the LA-1A is a neat thing but that’s another story.

Agreed. Although if I hadn’t heard of the Empress, I’d be pretty happy as is.I prefer the Empress Bass Compressor to the Cali76 CB.
I just realized there are 2 different ones. I think I would miss the colour switch, but has anyone managed to A/B the two on bass?
Sorry, yes that’s what I meant. Dang. Guess I gotta try the Bass Compressor. Are you referring to the MKII and Bass compressor? If so I reviewed both here: http://compressorpedalreviews.com
