The snow did not slow UPS down. My Doubler arrived today. Thanks Bob.

Everything works as described. I like the EQ a lot. The notch filter too. It is so small and light that it is disconcerting - like I must have grown used to associating good amps with some weight.

It sounds great. Beyond that, I just need it to be reliable. If it is, I'm sure it will be my amp for many years.

Yes. clockwise is enabling the trim circuit = trimming the input. Turning it CCW would minimize the reduction = maximum gain before the gain control knob.
You are currently at minimum gain coming in to the gain control itself.
It is best to have a strong yet not overdriven level ai each gain stage (trimpot - gain control - eq - master). This will provide a fuller, warmer and more dynamic tone.
As a highly regarded Audio Engineer once told me "It's all about setting proper gain structure, then I twist knobs until it sounds good"

I gigged 5 hours yesterday with the new Doubler on double bass with a piezo pu. Just used Channel 1. I had the both silver gain knob and Master at 3 o'clock (and left the trim pots at the factory setting of 12 o'clock). I did not have any flashing of the LEDs. This sounded great, I must say. It's the first time I've used anything other than my Clarus or Focus in a few years.

I'd like to experiment with it a bit today. I'll set the silver gain knob at 12 o'clock and turn the trim pots slightly CCW until I get a dim flash on the LED. Where "should" the Master be? Is there an optimal setting for the Master? How does it fit into the gain structure you all have been describing?

I gigged one hour yesterday, Doubler and a single Wizzy 10. 100 year old German bass, Full Circle, fdeck HPF-Pre, DI to the PA. Competing with mic'd 12-string acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and viola or 5-string banjo, 6-string acoustic guitar (song dependant). Master a little over 9:00, room sound split between the Wizzy and the PA. Best pickup tone I've had, although I'm going to switch back to the mic with this group. I like the pickup when I'm competing with a drummer, but don't need it with this group. After I listen to the recordings, I'll upload a song or two here.

Just curious about your gain setting for this kind of volume. With the master at 3 did'nt you have it about maxed? If you were to go back to a mic with this group would you be able to get enough volume with just a mic? I can usually get much louder with a pickup than a mic.

The Doubler sounds fantastic with electric bass through Bag End birch cabs with EV 12" and 15" speakers.
Also great with electric guitar through a Silvertone 2x12" with '65 Jensen C12Q speakers.
I didn't like it with electric guitar through a Wizzy 10, but I only played it for 5 minutes.

I haven't tried it with anything else. Yet.

really hope so cos i've just gone and bought a Doubler and i DONT have an EA cab :hmm:

just an 8ohm Schroeder 1212, i reckon it'll be cool tho somehow

Other than impedance matching or another technical factor, I can think of no logical reason for an EA or any other amp to be incompatible or somehow inappropriate for other brand speaker cabinets.

This is the second time (in five years with this singer/guitarist) that I've played with a pickup. Better than before, but I miss my mic. I usually use an Audio Technica PRO37R on an H-Clamp.
