New Gittler Basses!

Oh wait....how can it have any decent tones without any so-called "tonewoods"? Hmm, if it is bright polished it must have brighter tones and if the tubing is blued brown or black then it will bring out the wonderful lows...right? Or maybe colored strings will affect it.....

seriously, cannot afford it but would like to play it just once to see how it feels.

$4,995 for the classic model and $5,995 for the armed forces special edition with built-in compass and night-vision scope.
do not forget it is available in 5.56mm OR 7.62mm OR even a custom ERB available at 40mm !! :hyper:
The compass and NV Scope are de rigueur and come with ANY model.
Definitely a killer bass!

Artsy and all, avant-garde, yeah, but what's it feel and sound like? And if you leave it in your trunk overnight in the cold, don't stick your tongue on it! :p

As a guitarist, I see the writing on the wall and guitar is not the preeminent instrument it once was in many popular / current genres. Drums and bass have also been impacted in the new music...:)
And here, I must point out that the above can be said for a few genres, perhaps, but the guitar, bass and drums are still preeminent instruments in more than a few genres, certainly in rock and all its subgenres.
Sing the praises of this if you must, just as the Stash bass has its fans this will too, but it will not be taking the place of the Fender Precision and Jazz, the Musicman Stingray, the Rickenbacker 4001, the Gibson Thunderbird, et al in our lifetime.

Edit: I find the "Heil..." comment distasteful. YMMV. Seems this is amusing to some, especially since Gittler was Jewish. I'll just add:

אני צריך לחיות כל עוד לראות סוף לאנטישמיות.

Perhaps, when 6 million plus of "your people" are systematically annihilated, some perspective will be gained, or not? I'm guessing you find jokes about 9/11 amusing too?

Peace.

lol...are you really playing the holocaust card because someone said "Heil"? That's like...wayyy more offensive.

The negativity in threads like this make me want to quit TB altogether. I can't believe that people would actually expend so much effort into something so trivial. And for those of us that are *actually* interested, we have to filter through all this waste. It's a bummer. This bass is pretty awesome looking. Makes me want one.

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous. Anything new and innovative that gets posted here is met with disgust. Meanwhile, I make a topic criticizing builders for charging thousands for the same old J bass with outsourced parts and everyone rushes to defend them. Heck, I even got modded for calling a Fodera goofy looking. I guess once something passes an arbitrary line of popularity it becomes too big to criticize.

All this talk of the best kind of wood and tonal woods and heavy woods and here is a bass with no wood. I think I prefer a more traditional design but to each their own ...
That company is here on Long Island. It's an offshoot of a company that makes precision aircraft parts for the military, helicopters in particular. I met the owners a few years ago, and it was my understanding that they wanted to make a guitar that's tone was completely pure and uncolored by body wood, shape, etc. I guess that would make string choice very important.

Perhaps if the OP had posted a picture of the bass instead of something that looks like a Gattling gun from the A-10 Warthog then maybe TB'ers might have had a better understanding of the instrument:

Also, it doesn't help that the OP has a nasty backbite when someone doesn't agree with him. His mistake? He bit on the troll bait.

I wouldnt pay $50 for that. Just my opinion. Looks like something someone threw together in their garage.

This is an interesting thought. I wonder if someone with some welding skills is actually considering cloning this idea? It doesn't need to titanium does it?
I would buy a clone if it didn't cost that much. Look at the Hondo Steinbergers.... how many others have been cloned?
