New Origin Effects DCX Bass

Good luck! I think the DCX Bass is brilliant. For context: I've had scores of dirt pedals pass through my hands; not only has the DCX Bass stuck around, but it sees live play on a weekly basis. I truly hope it works out for you.

Love mine. I run it on “EQ” , FLAT, level at 12:00, drive at 10:00, LF at 1:30, HF at 10:00. Sounds great after a Scorpion.

I place the DCX after the Scorpion, and am very pleased with that arrangement.

I tried the Messenger against/with the OE SV, and though the Messenger is an amazing pre, the SV is just something special. DCX is pretty amazing as well!

I wonder if Origin Effects will make a dedicated EQ pedal for bass? Could be an interesting contender to the Empress ParaEQ MKII.

I don't think so if you like the sound of your bass the DCX will apply broad sweetening to your sound, the para EQ can focus on specific frequencies.

The MBD-2 is known to stack well because its clean blend smoothly mixes in any upstream dirt in the signal chain, resulting in a thick tone. This is also true of the new MBD.

I find that the dcx works very well in front of the DOOM2 too

I put the DCX after other dirt because it seems like a final polish kind of thing. I currently have a MBD-2 and a Beta V on the way. I want thick and articulate with just enough dirt to "fill in the cracks". What does the hive mind think about dirt ordering?

Oh, and I only use the DCX in eq mode if that matters.

I do the same. But it really just comes down to what color you want for the final dirt. Whatever dirt pedal is last will (probably) shape the voicing of the dirt the most, though of course the upstream pedals will still have influence.

I kind of agree in areas where it's just the Cali76 and DCX it fantastic , but it doesn't give me the tone shaping I need to really drive other dirt pedals. a para EQ would be ideal for that. So I may try it on the end but then again I don't always have dirt on....
