I did for a month or so. I preferred the Subspace overdrive compared to the DCX. Then using the DCX as an EQ after the Subspace i found the sound far too dense for my liking. I soon sold my DCX after that.anyone paring a Hamstead Subspace with a DCX is so what's 1st in the chain?
Thanks for responding I currently I have this order Broughton Scorpion > SubSpace > Carcosa considering DCX> Subspace > Fuzz.I did for a month or so. I can only say, give it a go. You might like it.
Ouch! I'm not sure I wanted to know that (and that goes for the rest of my board). But they REALY sound good.Ooh that's nice, Matt. Did quick math and that's a $1200 board just with the Origin Effects pedals.
BP1 gives me a nice, fairly transparent, clean tone. The DCX gives me EQ and a wide range of gain.Caveman BP1 vs Origin DCX
For those who own both.
Hi all. Looking for cleanish type preamp type pedal. Thinking of the Caveman BP1 Compact or the Bass DCX (into a JDI DI box). Both are based off different studio preamps. I use active basses.
How would you who own both compare them. What do each sort of add to your tone.
Just curious.
When the DCX is perfectly flat, it's quite flat and doesn't add anything. But the EQ works very well and boosting or cutting bass and treble is all usable. The console-like breakup is also excellent, very dynamic. It's a better value than the Caveman, which I have a hard time recommending for the current price. Thanks Derick
Do both add some warmth or magic (as some put it) to the tone?
The Caveman is a lot of $. Does the DCX add warmth?
What about the Rheingold BP-2 do you still like that pedal and would you recommend it?When the DCX is perfectly flat, it's quite flat and doesn't add anything. I’ve never tried that oneWhat about the Rheingold BP-2 do you still like that pedal and would you recommend it?
I’ve got the DCX and the new MBD on my board, so I’ll try stacking tonight.
My answer will be biased, I've got the Caveman BP1-C and had a DCX.Caveman BP1 vs Origin DCX

Interesting, "dense" sounds like a positive to me, what exactly do you mean by that? While i liked the DCX initially, i found it too dense sounding as an EQ
